Description

We've featured some amazing Corvette pro-tourers over the years. And this stroker-powered split-window is sure to be the latest in a long line of classics that seem to come in, spend one week being universally admired, and disappear to a new home. By definition, pro-touring cars are virtually irresistible because they combine everything great about modern performance with everything loved in vintage style. And who doesn't enjoy cruising a classic that mixes the best attributes of old school Detroit muscle with the killer performance of modern American icons? A professionally built head turner that delivers on every level, this sweet Sting Ray is the kind of car you simply CAN'T ignore. It wraps a sturdy Street Shop chassis, a massaged Tremec transmission and 427 cubic inches of BluePrint LS V8 in a tasteful restoration that oozes the style and class which makes second-generation Corvettes the stuff of legend. Looking for an impressive collector car that'll fare well on the road AND at the show? Check out this choice Chevy!

357 MAGNUM

The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up build that combines the best aesthetic traits of 1963, 1965 and 1967, this awesome Corvette is a brilliant custom that's been christened 357 Magnum. The car's professional build, completed by Bad Ass Replicas of Sandusky, Ohio, is founded on a solid, well-aligned body. That sculpted fuselage reflects rich Black two-stage that's highlighted by a bright Stinger Stripe. And today, this top notch classic rolls as a spectacular piece of iconic American muscle that's been detailed to better-than-new standards!

With its aggressive design and timeless good looks, Bill Mitchell's legendary Sting Ray has always been coveted and highly desirable. Not surprisingly, gearheads, customizers and almost 60 years of dedicated fans have elevated these cars to some of America's greatest cultural icons. At the front of this 1965 Vette, polished bumpers frame a stainless-trimmed grille and amber parking lamps. A 1967 cross-flag header draws the eye to a stylish 1967 Stinger Hood, which plants bold “427” scripts in front of polished wipers and stainless-trimmed glass. At the sides of those smoked windows, 1967 fender louvers lead familiar bowtie mirrors, polished door handles and stainless rocker guards that parallel rowdy side-pipes. Widened quarters frame a custom, 1963-style backlite, which is centered on a 1963 fuel filler and a requisite Corvette deck script. And at the back of the car, two more polished bumpers complement a polished tag frame and a full array of 1967 taillights.

427 CUBIC INCH BLUEPRINT ENGINES LS3

Given this pro-touring Vette's aspirations of world-class performance, throwing a chrome dress-up kit on a vintage 427 simply wasn't an option. While old school big blocks are awesomely raw beasts, they tend to be more machete than scalpel. That's why the builders of 357 Magnum decided to dial up the pros at BluePrint Engines and order a brand new LS3 stroker engine. Twisting stout 11 to 1 compression into 625 dyno-proven horsepower and 565 lb./ft. of dyno-proven torque, the all-aluminum 427 rumbling between this classic's fenders is a 21st century testament to the bowtie division's enduring small block. Professionally machined and assembled, the brutal mill wraps a 6-bolt OEM LS3 block around a forged crank, forged rods, forged pistons and a spry hydraulic roller cam. At the front of the engine, a short air tube funnels a perfect amount of oxygen between a remote filter element and a 90mm Drive By Wire throttle body. That wind mixes with fuel in a factory LS3 intake, on its way to aluminum BluePrint cylinder heads that work well with 42lb fuel injectors. Stainless headers crawl around familiar BluePrint plug wires. Charge comes courtesy of a coated alternator that, along with a coated AC compressor, spins a Vintage Air Front Runner serpentine drive. A tilted DeWitts radiator fronts a big electric puller fan. And the Chevy Orange stroker looks great accessorized with details like a trick dipstick, custom valve covers and a trusty Holley oil pan.

GO LIKE NEW!

Park this Sting Ray on a lift and you'll find a first class Street Shop chassis that, like the car's drivetrain, spices traditional flavor with modern sizzle. Those boxed bones ride a fully independent seventh-generation Corvette suspension that's finished with adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. The massaged small block twists power through a billet flywheel, which spins a tough Tremec TKO600 5-speed that's been finished with an American Powertrain Sure Shift upgrade. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Smooth and solid stops are provided by a muted Wilwood master cylinder, which clamps red, C7-spec calipers around a quartet of C7 rotors. Electronic fuel injection drains a stainless Rock Valley tank. And chromed C7 Z06-style wheels, paired with quality Michelin Pilot Super Sports, are a nice finishing touch to the car's aggressive stance.

TRADITIONAL AND TAILORED

Swing this Chevy's doors and you'll find a vivid leather cockpit that was professionally installed by Hide Originals of New London, Ohio. Customized, power-operated buckets, cribbed from a late-model Corvette, wear tasteful “357 MAGNUM” lettering. A dual-cowl dash hangs clean Dakota Digital VHX telemetry next to Vintage Air climate control, a discreet Tire Pressure Monitoring System and retro-look Custom Autosound audio that's piped through color-keyed speakers. At the base of that dash, a shallow console anchors small switches for swift power windows behind a leather-wrapped shifter. And a tilting Ididit column spins a classy wood rim around a billet, Corvette-branded steering wheel.

Who doesn't want a second-generation Corvette that's better than new in virtually every way? Thanks to its professional, high-dollar build, this choice coupe retains authentic Motor City feel while adding modern athleticism to an already awesome ownership experience. If you're in the market for a storied classic that's fully detailed and ready to hit the road, welcome to the Chevrolet family!
