Description

Here at RK Motors Charlotte, we sell the finest Cobra replicas on the market and most of them leave the showroom floor almost as soon as they post to our website. It usually takes around two weeks for a lucky buyer to finalize the deal while we're being hit with the usual barrage of callers that waited just a little too long to pick up the phone. So, if you've been catching your breath and patiently waiting for us to dig up another fine 1965 Cobra, here's your chanceto own a FE 427 powered top loader car that's dressed to kill intraditional Cobra blue with a white racing stripe.

Only 525 miles have been put on the odometer since this Hurricane Motorsports Cobras 2008 completion and it has all the right hardware to turn your knuckles white with excitement. Hurricane Motorsports takes the experience of a manufacturing background and combines it with feedback from a growing pool of owners to constantly improve their cars performance and appearance. This HM-1070 Cobra is free of the ripples and defects that plague most fiberglass bodied cars and itsgaps are tight resulting in great fit and finish that lays smooth groundwork for the vibrant blue paint and white racing stripe. Nothing was overlooked or forgotten when this car was assembled and it's one of the best looking cars you'll find this side of an original aluminum Cobra.

For most kit cars, details are often the downfall of an otherwise great design. Not so with this car, where detail work builds authenticity and is an asset to its overall appearance. Up front, a red Cobra emblem contrasts with the white stripe and creates a familiar and fitting color combination when placed against the blue. On both sides of the traditional Cobra grille, bumper overriders are bolted over the cars bumperettes to add an extra aggressive look to an already sinister car.In the grille, braided hoses provide a technical look that recalls track cars of the past and look great visually flowing into the stainless mesh of the outer grilles. Chrome trimmed headlights and turn signals are in excellent shape and sit at the leading edge of a hood which is secured by chrome handles and features a subtle hood scoop that replicates the original down to its correct shape. On top of the car, the glass looks brand new and includes correct side visors from Factory Five Racing and correct tinted top visors. A correctdriver's side English racing mirror sits next to a nice looking chrome windshield frame and matches a driver's side chrome roll bar. Just behind the front wheels, traditional stainless Cobra gills sit below red, blue and silver “427 Ford Cobra” badges, which look factory fresh, and coated side pipes flow from just below the gills to the leading edge of the rear wheel openings. At the back, the lines of the car are highlighted by a polished passenger's side fuel filler, a chrome tag bracket and trunk handle, two more vertical bumper overriders and chrome trimmed tail lights look as if they could be original equipment on a '65 Cobra. To complete the look, the car rides on a set of correct reproduction 15 inch Halibrand wheels that are mounted to 255/60/15 front and 295/50/15 rear Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 radials. The wheels are true knock offs, complete with the correct securing wires.

Not only does this Cobra look great, it's guaranteed to perform great with a 450 horsepower correct FE (Ford-Edsel) block 427 V8 under its hood.On top of the motor, a chrome air filter features a re-usable element and is housed in an aluminum enclosure in case you ever want to make the hood scoop functional. Under that air cleaner is a beefy 4 barrel Holley carburetor that utilizes braided hoses to pull fuel from a weight saving plastic tank. That fuel is fed into an aluminum intake which is bolted between correct FE aluminum heads with attractive chrome valve covers that feature the same “427 Ford Cobra” emblems as the sides of the car. An MSD ignition system combines with and MSD coil and an MSD distributor to provide spark to the engine through loomed Accel wires. In front of the engine, billet pulleys hold new belts and new hoses flow to and from an aluminum radiator to keep everything cool and in check. At the sides of the engine, coated headers run into the baffled side pipes for a sound that is distinctly Cobra. The big block fits well under the body matched hood and looks good balanced between the lightweight aluminum firewall and engine bay panels.

One of the best things about buying a Hurricane Motorsports Cobrais that the suspension is comprised of new hardware instead of weathered items from a 90s donor car. In this case, the authentic feel of correct components is augmented by modern hardware installed by the owner of the car. Behind the engine, a correct top loader 4-speed transmission includes a hydraulic clutch and a scatter shield. Power from that transmission runs to a proven Ford 9 inch rear axle with stout, but highway friendly 3.25 gears. In front of that drivetrain, a double A-arm suspension with fully adjustable upper arms features QA-1 coil over shocks and tubular control arms. Holding the rear end up is an adjustable 3 link suspension which houses QA-1 coil over shocks and a QA-1 panhard bar. Manual steering combines with manual disc brakes to provide improved stopping and handling with traditional Cobra feel. The cars boxed frame is solid and the bottom of the car is clean. The high power to weight ratio combines with the traditional Cobra driveline and modern suspension to make this car a blast to drive. And thanks to the tolerable rear end, it doesn't need to stop at every gas station in the process.

Simple is good and the purist interior of this Cobra is an excellent example of the mindset that a driver should enjoy the way a car drives instead of its amenities. Black leather bucket seats are firm, look as good as new and are furnished with four point harnesses from R.J.S. Racing Equipment. In front of the seats a minimalist dash is topped in the Cobras vibrant blue and white paint, and finished in black vinyl. Inside the dashAutometer gauges include a speedometer, a correct 8,000 RPM'no redline' tachometer, a voltage gauge, a water temperature gauge, an oil pressure gauge, an oil temperature gauge and a fuel gauge. On the floor, new black carpet begins around square floor board cut outs and flows pasta traditional Cobra shifter and anemergency brake handle into a small storage space behind the seats. The centerpiece of the interior is a replica wood and aluminum Cobra steering wheel that looks great against the blue, white and black dash. Behind the cockpit a fully carpeted trunk houses only the Optima battery and retains much of its usability. There are no unneeded gadgets or distracting bolt-ons in this Cobra. The connection between driver and car is the only thing that really matters.

Documentation for this car includes a Hurricane Motorsports assembly manual and a Hurricane Motorsportsowner's handbook.

This Hurricane Motorsports Cobra comes with a bad ass 427, a traditional top loader transmission, a fully adjustable suspension and an unmatched driving experience. It looks just as good as the real deal and it benefits from advance build techniques and modern technology that were unimaginable in 1965. If you've been patiently waiting for a complete, well-built Cobra that's ready to fire up and hit the road today, you've found the right car. Call now!
