WHEN A CRUISER BECOMES A BRUISER

A literal manifestation of the phrase “wicked awesome”, this svelte Malibu is the beneficiary of not one but two detailed, ground-up restorations. The first reboot, conducted by the pros at Roadster Shop, was a highly meticulous affair that, in the name of creating a cool cruiser, enhanced the car's timeless factory form. The second reboot, conducted by the artists at Kindig It Design, built that solid foundation into an exclusive, world renowned custom that's been coveted, featured and paraded as an international business icon!

As with its first-generation Nova and first-generation Camaro, the subdued and classy lines of Chevy's prototypical Chevelle are almost universal in appeal. This sorted exhibit of mechanical art kicks off with silky PPG two-stage that was custom mixed by Kindig It Design. At the front of that bright silver pigment, a broad stainless grille hangs traditional headlights between a smoothed bumper and epic “C H E V R O L E T” lettering. Behind those runes, a sculpted hood points a polished topper opposite polished wipers that clear crisp, stainless-trimmed glass. That glass gets reflected in bowtie-stamped mirrors, which join flush Kindig It door pulls between factory fender emblems and custom “Maliboost” quarter scripts that were created by the fine folks at Ogden Chrome Plating. That badging floats between requisite rocker trim and straight stainless spears that trace widened and mini tubbed quarters. And out back, a second smoothed bumper frames classy trunk trim, conservative taillights and more epic “C H E V R O L E T” lettering.

1,140 REAR-WHEEL HORSEPOWER!

Gaze upon this Chevy's smooth engine bay and you'll find 6.2 liters of rowdy LS3 that's been piped to not one but two Precision Turbo turbochargers! Sourced directly from Schaumburg, Illinois' Speed Inc., and professionally tuned by GM performance specialist Mark McPhail, this serene mill sends a brutal 1,140 horses directly to the car's rear wheels. At the top of the buff block, custom Kindig It Cold Air Induction feeds highly polished snails. A polished throttle body leads a FAST 92MM intake, which is wired with quality VaporWorx fuel delivery. Lightweight GM heads tilt snazzy Chevrolet valve covers over custom, fully coated headers. The fires get lit by MSD Super Conductor plug wires. In front of those cables, a requisite serpentine drive spins modern power steering opposite a polished Powermaster alternator. Cooling comes courtesy of a big aluminum radiator, which fronts a quick-spinning SPAL puller fan. And details like polished caps, trick sticks, billet hood supports and a quality Wilwood master cylinder ensure this Chevelle will wow showgoers and gearheads alike.

LOOKS GREAT, DRIVES GREAT!

Take a gander under this cool A-Body and you'll find a sturdy Roadster Shop FAST TRACK chassis that wraps a web of boxed and tubed bracing in smooth, Satin Black paint. Those bones are sandwiched between solid floorpans that have been appropriately restored for the road, and a custom independent front and 4-link rear suspension that's been finished with adjustable Penske Racing Shocks. A tough 4L70E 4-speed, a Level 7 unit sourced directly from Finish Line, spins a 4-inch driveshaft, which twists a Strange Engineering differential. Stopping is a cinch thanks to 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors, which get grabbed by power-assisted Wilwood calipers. Turns come courtesy of modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Spent gases are handled by custom, 3-inch exhaust which, created from scratch by Roadster Shop, swirls spent gases through Mandrel-bent pipes and throaty Borla mufflers. And at the corners, 3-piece Forgeline DE3Ps push 275/35ZR18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports in front of 335/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

WORLD CLASS THREADS FOR A WORLD CLASS CAR

Open this Chevy's tight-fitting doors and you'll find a tastefully customized interior that continues the car's theme of timeless but better. Deep seats, wrapped tight in custom-dyed Scottish Leather, have been outfitted with 4-point Corbeau Racing harnesses. An ornate dash, likewise-tweaked by Millcreek, Utah's J&S Custom Interior, hangs bright factory trim around precise AutoMeter telemetry. A custom console, garnished with one-off billet from Kindig It Design, anchors a serious shifter behind a quartet of color-keyed accessory gauges. A color-keyed roll cage frames fade-free carpet between factory side panels. The driver spins a polished and half-wrapped wheel around a modern, tilting column. And a carpeted trunk hides the car's Optima gel cell battery.
