'68 SPECIAL

The beneficiary of a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration that spared absolutely no expense, this slick Chevy is the product of A LOT of time spent sweating details. A series of solid body panels displays excellent fit and world-class finish. Awesome Corvette Bronze two-stage, exclusive to the Camaro's 1968 model year, seals dynamic flake in a glossy, wet-look shine. And the result is one very well done pavement scorcher that'll drop jaws and turn heads wherever it roams.

At the front of the car's dynamic pigment, professionally sprayed by the folks at Richard's Corvette in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, a menacing Super Sport grille hangs a bright “SS” badge between traditional headlights, a traditional D80 spoiler and a mirrored bumper. At the top of that grille, a Camaro-branded header leads the eye to billet Eddie Motorsports hood louvers that look great behind a Gloss Black nose stripe. At the sides of that stripe, ornate fender emblems lead factory markers, bright wheel lips and factory door handles. Opposite those handles, a duo of mirrors reflects fresh glass that's dressed in muted wipers, polished frames and tight drip rails. And at the back of the car, a Gloss Black valance centers a familiar Super Sport fuel cap between textured tail lights, a second D80 spoiler and a second mirrored bumper.

BIGGER IS ALWAYS BETTER

When you're looking to make a statement with a hopped up muscle car, installing one of GM's many fantastic LS motors is always a great start. But the builder of this ultimate Camaro wanted to keep things retro and right, so he took Chevrolet's legendary Mark IV big block and bored it all the way out to a whopping 468 cubic inches! Brutal in both sight and sound, that massive display of force kicks off with a Satin Black air cleaner that's married to a coated Holley 4-barrel. That carb feeds a finished Winters intake, which floods iron Chevy heads that hoist a muted, bowtie-branded breather on trick, hydro-dipped valve covers. Those heads work well with a hydraulic roller cam and fluid roller rockers. Spark is provided by a hot MSD Pro-Billet distributor, which sequences fire between MSD 6AL ignition and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Spent gases roll through traditional GM manifolds. At the front of those tubes, flashy Concept One serpentine components spin a reliable Edelbrock water pump between a polished alternator and a polished AC compressor. That pump feeds a massive aluminum radiator that's outfitted with a tasteful closeout and spry puller fans. Everything, from this Chevy's billet latch and sporty fender supports to its neat Chevrolet Performance emblem and proven Optima battery, is clean, mean and ready to roll. And, professionally built by the pros at Moncks Corner, South Carolina's O'Hare Marine, the big mill twists an impressive 626 horsepower into a solid 607 lb./ft. of earth shaking torque!

PURE AND PROVEN

Pose this panther on a lift and you'll find solid, Satin Black floors that provide a stellar backdrop for a roster of proven components. A tough Muncie 4-speed, professionally rebuilt during the car's detailed restoration, twists power to a tough GM 12-bolt. Beneath that drivetrain, a factory suspension centers factory-style power steering between modern coil-overs, tubular control arms and a big sway bar. Power-assisted calipers clamp a quartet of vented rotors. Charred dinosaurs float into large-diameter pipes, which hang an X-shaped crossover in front of a rowdy Pypes Race Pro muffler. And torque transitions to pavement through attractive Rally Replicas, which wear 225/45ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force Comp-2s in front of 245/40ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force Comp-2s.

TIMELESS STYLE

Swing the doors and you'll find a Deluxe Black Houndstooth interior that's, well, to put it bluntly, much cooler than anything found in modern cars. That handsome cockpit is centered on fresh bucket seats that are stitched in a nice combination of vinyl and cloth. At the front of those thrones, a tastefully modified dash hangs modern telemetry next to cool Vintage Air conditioning and a cooler Radio Delete. Deluxe door panels cage fade-free carpet around a factory console that's finished with a traditional Hurst shifter. And the driver turns an attractive Chevrolet Rally Wheel.
