This Corvette Grand Sport, #731 to be exact, has been masterfully maintained and exhibits excellent build quality that feels just as solid as the car looks. The sleek and aerodynamic C4 Grand Sport body is covered in GM's Corvette exclusive Admiral Blue which is probably one of the best Corvette colors ever created. It's absolutely electric looking in the sunlight and retains a nice liquid smooth gloss under the lights of our RK Motors Charlotte showroom. A broad Artic White stripe flows from the nose of the car to the convex rear valence and is trimmed by factory white on blue decals that provide the illusion of pin stripping. Two bright red hash marks on the driver's side fender contrast well with the Admiral Blue and are a direct nod to Corvette heritage where a specific number of hash marks was used to identify specific cars. On the leading edge of the car a stamped Corvette tag insert sits below a chrome C4 Corvette emblem that looks very classy against the Artic White stripe. At the front corners of the car, combination marker and driving lights flow into cornering lamps that terminate just before the front fender openings. Body matched trim flows all the way around the car and sits above subtle, but aggressive Corvette gills and below chrome “Grand Sport” emblems on the front fenders. At the rear, fender flares are a Grand Sport coupe exclusive and serve to both pay homage to original Corvette Grand Sports and cover 11 inch wide rear tires lifted straight from the now defunct ZR-1. On the rear valence, four traditional round Corvette tail lights are divided by the Arctic white stripe which features another stamped “Corvette” script. Those tail lights sit above correct square flat black C4 Corvette exhaust tips and below another pristine chrome Corvette emblem on the fuel filler door. Correct 17 inch black ZR-1 style wheels wearing 275/40 front and 315/35 rear Nitto Extreme radials feature machined lips and silver C4 Corvette logos.

Under this Corvettes hood is GM's highly regarded LT4 V8 that was exclusive to the Grand Sport and a handful of GM F-Bodys. Using the LT1 as a starting point, the LT4 added a higher compression ratio, a higher redline, bigger valves, a better crank and roller rockers to dish out 330 horsepower and 340 ft./lb. of torque. The red Grand Sport exclusive intake manifold matches the car's interior and flows to red “Grand Sport” lettering on the model plate at the front of the motor. Grand Sport specific red ignition wires add a little extra spice to an already unique package and the engine cover features red Corvette lettering with C4 Corvette emblems. Everything under the hood looks great and it's obvious that none of the original factory parts have been disturbed in the 15 years of this cars existence. All belts and hoses are in like new condition and the car even features correct decals that are untouched thanks to its exceptional preservation.

1996 Grand Sports could only be ordered with a 6-speed manual transmission. That tough and smooth ZF gear box features GMs defeatable skip-shift fuel saving technology and sends power through 3.45 gears to the massive 11 inch, Grand Sport coupe specific rear tires. All 1996 Corvettes had a standard double A-arm front and independent rear set up but the Grand Sport coupe received more aggressive settings that were fine tuned for performance driving resulting in a car that is a blast to drive in both the twists and the straightaways. Four wheel power disc brakes feature black calipers with silver “Corvette” lettering and keep the power well under control. The chassis on this car is just as clean as the engine compartment and exterior showing minimal wear and absolutely no signs of weathering. The bright suspension bits contrast nicely to the clean floor pan and the factory exhaust system sounds great breathing through mufflers mounted just before the flat black square tips.

This handsome C4 Corvette is one of the few Grand Sports optioned with a red leather interior which makes for a very attractive interior/exterior color combination that seems both fitting and appropriate in an era where black, gray and beige became way too commonplace. The red seating surfaces of this car show virtually no wear and the heated and adjustable buckets make you feel like you're in a padded and comfortable racing seat. On the headrests you'll find an embroidered Grand Sport logo and beside the seats you'll find matching red seatbelts. The door panels are divided into two sections with the outer portions matching the red seats and the inner portions matching the like new black carpet and dash. Inside the dash, a combination digital and analog gauge cluster is fully functional and would be perfectly at home in a car half the age of this Corvette. In the console you'll find a black shifter for the ZF 6-speed transmission and a small storage area. Luxury equipment is evident throughout the interior and includes automatic climate control, power seats and windows, power adjustable heated exterior mirrors and a Delco/Bose AM/FM radio equipped with both a CD player and a cassette player. Under the rear hatch, you'll find enough storage space to stow the cars lift off roof or about $150 worth of groceries.

Documentation on this rare Grand Sport includes the cars original window sticker, a factory Grand Sport book and VHS tape, and maintenance receipts for the very small amount of work this car has needed over its low mileage life.

Grand Sport #731 has been a collectible car since its creation and it turns heads wherever it goes. Immaculately maintained and driven less than 1,500 miles each year since it rolled out of GMs Bowling Green assembly plant it is one of only 810 Grand Sport coupes and one of only 217 Grand Sport coupes optioned with the red leather interior. This isn't just a stripes package that claims to be a Collector's Edition or something that was optional on the entire Chevrolet line, this is a truly great Corvette with performance pedigree and unmistakable ties to legendary Chevrolet racing milestones.
