Tire-Shredding Nova Hardtop 420hp 302 V8 4-speed 12-bolt Posi SS interior
Sometimes simple is good. This traditional Nova is, literally, brilliant proof of that philosophy. With a distinct lack of flashy graphics or questionable body modifications clouding its retro Marina Blue paint, this old school Chevy stands out not because of what's there, but because of what isn't. Of course, when you're building a car that honors a specific era, everything you do HAS to be well-planned and well-executed. From factory bodywork to a factory-look powertrain, to a factory-style interior, there's simply no room for compromise. Mixing 302 cubic inches of de-stroked 327 with a massaged chassis, a professional grade driveline and ultra clean aesthetics, this exceptional hardtop is a time-honored stunner. And if you're looking for a sweet classic that's road ready, show-ready and just plain battle-ready, it's the perfect way to prowl the scene and bruise a few egos!
BLUE CHEVY CREW
It seems like Marina Blue is the go-to color for traditional Chevy builds -- rightfully so, since it remains dynamic pigment that often walks a perfect line between timeless and retro. Think about it: when you picture sweet, '60s-style Chevy muscle, it's very easy to envision the car in Marina Blue, right? An authentic V8 Chevy II Nova that began life in sunny California, this beast is the beneficiary of a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration that was completed in late 2020. And today, the car rolls as one very impressive classic that's poised to cruise and polished to show!
A quick look at our high resolution photos reveals trim and ornamentation that remain mostly as the General specified. At the front of this coupe's 'squared' body, a familiar Super Sport grille hangs a prominent “Nova SS” emblem between halogen headlights and a polished bumper that's finished with small parking lamps. Behind that grille, a factory hood leads the eye to fresh glass that's caged in straight frames, polished drip rails and polished wipers. At the sides of that glass, ornate fender emblems and quarter-mounted “Super Sport” scripts hint at the true nature of the small block's personality while tasteful door handles and a classy driver's mirror perfectly complement slim wheel lips and subtle pinstriping. And out back, a second polished bumper frames simple taillights and a bold deck emblem.
UNASSUMING BRAWN
Check this classic's Satin Black engine bay and you'll find 302 cubic inches of racy Chevy small block that spins stout 11 to 1 compression in 420 dyno-proven horsepower and 396 lb./ft. of dyno-proven torque! Cleverly de-stroked to feature a 4.00-inch bore and a 3.00-inch stroke, that hot mill begins at a polished air cleaner, which drops crisp wind into a big Holley carburetor. A painted aluminum intake feeds aluminum PROMAXX heads, which tilt Corvette-style valve covers under a Satin Black breather. Those heads cap solid lifters, which work well with a forged crank, hypereutectic Keith Black pistons and a mechanical COMP cam. Proven MSD ignition, cleverly disguised with an iconic GM emblem, sequences spark through loomed wires and a factory-style distributor. Deep groove pulleys spin a modern alternator above a painted aluminum water pump. Spent gases traverse long Hedman Hedders. And a factory-style radiator keeps an eye on cooling.
UNASSUMING VIGOR
That lust worthy small block twists torque to a tough Muncie 4-speed that's been augmented with hardened first and second gears. That legendary gearbox spins a familiar 12-bolt axle, which is finished with a requisite posi-traction differential and fun, 3.31 cogs. That drivetrain rolls on a fully rebuilt suspension that's equipped with requisite monoleaf springs. The car's old school manual steering is greatly aided by retrofitted front discs and 11-inch, police-spec drums. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases into an X-shaped crossover, which feeds 2.5-inch chambered pipes. At the corners, timeless Cragar S/S wheels spin 155/80R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And overall, this Nova's solid, undercoated floors are primed for logging miles!
SUPER SPORTING INTENTIONS
Pop this X-Body's solid doors and you'll find a crisp Super Sport interior that's both attractive and timeless. In the middle of that cockpit, taut vinyl buckets wear racy white stripes. In front of those seats, a classy dash hangs requisite Super Sport telemetry beside factory heat and a factory-spec Radio Delete. Some of the '60s best side panels frame fade-free carpet, which frames a long Hurst shifter. The driver spins a handsome Chevrolet Rally Wheel. And behind the passengers, a clean trunk provides access to the car's relocated battery.
It's impossible to guess how many hours it took to construct this awesome Chevy. But, given the specificity that defines its build, our asking price probably wouldn't even cover the components, let alone labor. At first glance, the car appears to be a simple retro relic, but an acute attention to detail and amazing quality gain your admiration almost instantly. All that said, one thing is certain: bold and boisterous, there's no hiding how brilliant this Nova is when you're behind the wheel!
