Description

If any car could be considered the Hemi Cuda of the 90s, it would be the twin turbo Toyota Supra. With an unmatched combination of brute power, attractive looks and everyman appeal, the Supra offered performance and style that defined a genre. These cars were a great performance value when new and judging by market prices that continue to rise, they will likely be great investment cars for the future. The last Supra we got our hands on, a super clean 1997 model (that can be found here: http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/inventory/1997-Toyota-Supra-Twin-Turbo/132329) lasted only two weeks and sold for $65K! This immaculately maintained 1994 Supra only has 23,867 miles on its odometer and features thrilling turbo power in an awesome track capable package.

This 1994 Toyota is a pristine, completely unmodified road rocket that is in outstanding condition. There may be cars with lower mileage, but I'll wager that most of those cars have had their clocks turned a quarter-mile at a time. If you want an unmolested, perfectly preserved, low-mileage twin turbo Supra, this is your car. The cars simple body is covered in shiny black paint which has never been repaired and likely hasn't seen too many rainy days or any inclement weather. The paint is free of the heavy orange peel you see in other production cars of this vintage and panel gaps are incredibly precise. At the front of the car, large flush-fitting HID headlights feature detailed chrome buckets and sit above a contoured bumper with good looking front and side mounted amber turn signals. Centered on the nose of the car is a graphite gray Toyota emblem that further enhances the simplicity of the overall design. The sides of the car carry no ornamentation at all and features black window frames, which remain deep and lustrous with no UV damage, above wide air intakes at the front of the rear wheels. Above the doors, the lift-off roof fits snuggly and is easily removed, suggesting that the car has never been hammered on. At the back of the car, the towering rear wing doesn't sag one bit and shows none of the paint chips typical of Supras that see a lot of road time. Below the wing, a familiar curved trunk lid houses an altezza style third brake light, another graphite gray Toyota emblem and a passenger's side mounted graphite gray “Supra” emblem. At the edges of the rear fascia, awesome Supra taillights with four individual round lenses are as clear as the day they left the showroom; and at the bottom of the bumper a factory stainless exhaust tip displays very little dulling. This is one heck of a nice car that is in excellent shape.

The real reason Supras are so insanely popular, rare, and expensive lies under the hood. For the same reason that the Hemi made a garden-variety Barracuda special, the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six in this Supra makes the car. Long and tall, inline sixes aren't great for under-hood packaging but they are silky smooth and present easy routing for turbochargers. Throughout the 90s, they were pretty commonplace, especially in the Japanese market and not surprisingly, Toyota built up a ton of back stock. Ever the enterprising company, they started stuffing these motors into Supras, turned up the boost, and made 320 horsepower thanks to dual sequential turbochargers. What this means is plenty of flexible power with little turbo lag; the first turbo spools up at low engine speeds for quick throttle response, while the second comes in at higher speeds and feels a lot like a second stage rocket separation. There is a slight hesitation in acceleration, and then the car explodes with an adrenaline-rush of power that slews it sideways as the tires struggle to hold on. As you can see from the photos, the engine bay is fresh and spotless with every glittering component showing no wear, no dirt and certainly no corrosion. And based on appearance alone, it appears that this car has never been raced or abused.

Although they were available with automatics, the Supras perform best with the 6-speed manual found in this car. These transmissions seem to survive behind modified Supras with more than 700 horsepower, so handling the stock cars output should be a piece of cake. The suspension is fully independent front and back, and is extremely capable while allowing a smooth, comfortable ride. You'll note from the ride height that the suspension on this car is completely stock, and nothing has been modified or replaced during the past 17 years. Even the exhaust system is original, and makes this Corvette eater as quiet as a Lexus. Massive over engineered disc brakes with ABS live at all four corners behind the cars correct 17 inch alloy wheels and correct 235/45 front and 255/40 rear Bridgestone Potenza radials.

The interior features very unusual Ivory leather which is a pleasant change from the predominantly black buckets found in most Supras. Wonderfully preserved, the seats show almost no signs of use and despite their light coloring, no dirt or wear. The dash and console are black, of course, and provide a striking contrast to the light upholstery. Everything is angled towards the driver, and controls are straightforward and well laid out in finest Toyota tradition. These cars were heavy on the technology, so every gadget the engineers could think up went into this flagship, and everything works properly today, including the factory CD player and cassette deck. Tan carpets are in excellent condition thanks to a set of black floor mats and I'm thinking your passenger may appreciate the grab handle afforded him just under the glove box. The door panels are simple to match the car and feature controls for the cars power windows and power door locks. The hatch in this car is immaculate as well, with an original liner that is fade free and completely intact.

Documentation is sparse but includes a guide for storing the top and a quick reference sheet for the cars electronics

If you were to ask us what newer cars will be collectable and appreciate in the coming years, the twin turbo Supra would be at the head of that list. Unmolested examples like this low mileage 1994 model are impossibly hard to find, and I'd be willing to bet that none of them are quite this nice. If you're looking for a factory fresh Supra to preserve and enjoy, or build one heck of a track machine out of, we have the car for you. Call today!
