Description

A vast majority of the cars that come through our RK Motors Charlotte showroom are either flawless concourse level trailer queens or incredibly original low-mileage garage dwellers. As awesome as those rare and exclusive cars are, the foundation of this hobby has always been cool old cars that we can drive, build on, show off and enjoy. Think about it, when you were a kid, did you dream of towing a pristine factory original car to a field where it would sit and look pretty? Hell no! You wanted a fire breathing head turner that was exciting, fast and expressed your personality. Professionally frame up restored and powered by a Summit Racing 350, this 1963 Chevrolet Impala is the kind of cool cruiser that you can fire up, press the go pedal and road trip across the country in without thinking twice.

Logging only 1,200 miles since its complete frame up restoration, this top of the line Chevy still displays immaculate paint and bodywork that simply glistens under our showroom lighting. A lot of time and effort was put into making sure this big cruiser was extremely straight which resulted in chiseled body panels that are completely wave-free, and better than factory panel gaps which produce an exceptionally straight body. On top of that straight body, a rich coat of correct GM code 918 Azure Aqua paint was topped with a correct GM code 936 Ermine White top and cut and buffed to an awesome soft shine that does a great job of setting off this cars sleek vintage steel.

The 1963 Impalas were sleek and stylish, with an absence of excessive chrome that suggested GM was coming out of its tailfin-induced hangover from the 1950s. At the front of the car, a body width stainless grille is stamped with black “Chevrolet” script and houses four clear headlights above centered parking lights. At the edge of the hood, a great looking chrome Chevrolet emblem features a traditional blue bowtie centered between red and white inlays. Below the grille, a wrap-around chrome bumper houses a cool ridged center section and displays a mirror-like showroom fresh shine. At the sides of the car, customized monochromatic Chevrolet crossed flag emblems combine with rear fender mounted leaping antelope emblems to break up the sea of blue paint, and chrome door handles sit above a white inlayed and “Impala” branded stainless body moldings to emphasize the cars long body. At the top of the car, all new glass is flanked by well-maintained stainless trim, new chrome bowtie mirrors and bright stainless wipers. Out back, six traditional chrome and gold trimmed Chevrolet tail lights sit inside a silver rear valence panel above another show worthy chrome bumper. On the trunk lid, a second chrome Chevrolet emblem houses the same blue bowtie along with the same pristine inlays as the hood emblem and sits above another stamped black “Chevrolet” script.

Powering this Impala is a reliable and powerful Summit Racing supplied 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 that gets the job done with authority. At the top of that motor a K&N XStream style reusable air filter forces air into an electronically choked Edelbrock four barrel carburetor. Fuel and air flow from that chrome carburetor into an Edelbrock aluminum intake that's bordered by polished aluminum valve covers. Below those valve covers, free flowing coated shorty headers send exhaust gases into 2.5 inch true dual exhaust system that features an awesome deep roar. At the back of the engine, an HEI distributor sends power into PowerMax performance spark plug wires and at the front of the engine the cars accessories are spun by fresh V-belts and its radiator is fed by fresh hoses. The entire engine compartment is nicely detailed and ready to both show and drive. From the satin black engine, to the slick fenders and fully finished hood, to the billet transmission dipstick, this is one clean, good looking engine bay.

One look underneath this car reveals a solid chassis that is just as ready for the road as the cars stout 350 engine. Power is put to the pavement by a tried and true Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed transmission that has been equipped with a 2,800 RPM stall converter. Holding that rock solid transmission off the ground is the cars restored double A-arm front suspension, which appears to have recently replaced shock absorbers, and the cars restored 3 link rear suspension. Handling is greatly enhanced by modern power steering and a four wheel disc brake system that features both a new power brake booster and drilled and slotted rotors at each corner. Exhaust flows from the coated headers to dual chamber Flowmaster mufflers which hang just under the cars solid floors. Those floors still feature some of their original undercoating which will protect them from the occasional spot of rain that might be encountered on the way to and from your favorite local cruise spot. At the corners of the car, sweet looking 18 inch front and 20 inch rear Coys wheels are mounted to 225/40 front and 255/35 rear General Z-rated tires and wear graphite gray paint behind chrome center caps.

Covered in correct GM code 853 Aqua, this cars great looking interior has been restored to factory-fresh condition in every way. The seats and seat covers are new, and present just as well as the day the car left the restoration shop. Below those seats, like-new carpet is bordered by straight Fisher sill plates and shows no significant signs of wear at all. In front of the seats, the restored blue dash is full of rebuilt gauges, carries the cars original equipment bowtie branded radio, features a sharp correctly centered tachometer and hangs accurate Auto Gage gauges for the engines vitals. All of the cars stainless trim and chrome knobs are correctly detailed and refinished to the same high standards as the trim on the exterior of the car. At the sides of the seats, awesome gridded door panels feature buttons that match the seat covers along with chrome window cranks and arm rest mounted chrome handles for the doors. In front of the driver, a correct blue steering wheel sits in front of a column mounted shifter and features detailed chrome trim with a correct black Impala horn button. Out back, the cars fully restored trunk carries a correct mat and a full-sized spare tire.

This is clearly one of the nicest '63 Impalas around, and it's a wonderful car to drive, enjoy and haul three or four of your coolest friends in. It's really no surprise that these cars are amazingly popular with almost everyone who sees them because they have such a great combination of style, presence and performance. To put this '63 hardtop in your garage and enjoy years of care-free cruising, call now!
