Description

Whoever says you can't own a nice Mopar without mortgaging the house obviously hasn't been to RK Motors Charlotte. As your number one source for all things Chrysler, we take pride in selling the nastiest and most storied muscles cars to ever come out of Detroit's Auburn Hills suburb. And from the wicked Viper Cuda that's sitting coiled in the middle of our showroom floor to this eyeball popping 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger; we truly have a Mopar for everyone!

Originally built in Windsor Canada and sold in sunny California, and rescued from a Las Vegas scrapyard by our own Joe Angelucci in the 1980's after the original owner passed away, this rust free Dodge Dart eventually made its way east to be massaged into a serious street machine by RK Motors own Mentor, Ohio restoration shop. With all original sheet metal, including doors that open and close like the car just rolled off of the assembly line, this was the perfect Dart to transform into a low-cost cruise night machine. Once the body was clean and prepped, a thorough block sanding ensured its ultra-straight perfection and a stunning coat of 1970 only Chrysler code FJ5 Sublime Green highlighted its no-nonsense old school looks. The result is a super slick Mopar road warrior with only 32,303 original miles and killer looking classic lines that carry the same visual punch as an airport fire truck!

At the front of the car, a body width restored silver grille houses correct headlights and marker lights above a show worthy chrome bumper. Above that grille, the cars glowing green hood holds two original re-chromed hood scoops that each sport a cool and subdued chrome “340” emblem. At the sides of the car, multi-faceted body panels add an unmistakable vintage flavor to the design and feature correct M26 stainless wheel trim, a correct G33 remote left side mirror, cool rear fender mounted “Dart Swinger” emblems and a swept white Swinger stripe that implies a sense of motion even when the car is sitting still. Above the side panels, a correct new V1X black vinyl top was installed under the cars straight original stainless trim and correct reproduction M21 roof rail moldings. At the back of the car, ridged fenders flow into a second pristine body width chrome bumper which houses silver trimmed tail lights below a great looking chrome “Dodge” emblem that's located on the passenger's side of the trunk.

Under the car's hood, you'll find a clean 1971 era 360 cubic inch V8 with date correct heads and correct orange paint. Completely rebuilt and properly detailed during the cars restoration, the Sublime Green engine compartment is extremely correct and the stout small block runs every bit as good as it looks. At the top of the motor, a black air cleaner sits on top of an Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor that is complete with stainless fuel lines and braided throttle cable sleeving. Below that carburetor, air and fuel is funneled into an Edelbrock intake manifold that sits between two cool looking finned Mopar Performance valve covers. Below the valve covers, ceramic coated Hooker long tube headers send exhaust into a true dual system, and behind those valve covers an MSD distributor sends spark from an MSD Blaster coil to MSD Super Conductor plug wires. In front of the motor a correct radiator sends water through fresh hoses and a correct alternator is spun by a fresh V-belt. This car is extremely quick and dead reliable! An A-body with a stout 360 will outrun most B-body 440 cars all day long!

The underside of this Dart is has been expertly restored and is in excellent shape! The powerful 360 engine sends its thrust through a rebuilt 1970 A727 Torqueflite transmission that is held off the ground by fresh shocks, fresh front and rear bearings and bushings, and heavy duty springs. At the back of the car, a new stainless fuel tank sends fuel through new fuel lines, and at the front of the car a fresh brake booster sends fluid through new brake lines to new front pads and new rear drums. Exhaust is handled by a nice looking aluminized system that is complete with great sounding Dynomax mufflers and great looking stainless tips. The cars frame and floors are solid and display no signs of rust or serious weathering, and the inner fenders have been undercoated to protect against moisture and road grime. At the corners, 225/60 BF Goodrich T/A Radials are mounted to original small bolt pattern rallye wheels that add a clean racy look.

The correct black bench interior in this Dart is absolutely spotless and presents as brand new. The original dash pad, instrument cluster and gauges are all in excellent un-restored condition, and the correct heater controls now sit above a correct code R11 Dart AM Transistor radio. The original seats which have been rebuilt with new foams and recovered with new Legendary seat covers combine with a new headliner to add a crisp finished look to the interior. Below the seats, new carpet is bordered by correct M31 door sill trim and protected by cool carpeted mats with stitched in “Dart” logos. At the sides of the seats, new door panels sit on black painted inner doors and feature mint California original door handles and window cranks that function well and look great. In front of the driver, there's a new Tuff wheel, and in the fully restored Sublime with black carpet trunk there's an awesome sounding Pioneer Premier CD changer.

Documentation included with this sale is an original owner's manual and vehicle information page, receipts from the restoration, and paperwork for the major modifications made to the car.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced, super-clean, tight, low mileage Mopar to show, build on and drive like it was meant to be enjoyed, this Dart is for you! There's plenty of power, a straight and solid body that's covered in classic Mopar Sublime paint, and a reliable freshly sorted drivetrain.
