Description

I don't think I'll get many arguments when I say that Jaguar has created some of the most striking designs in automotive history. From the 1968 E-type to the 2009 XJ, most of their cars are timeless designs which age gracefully and retain their value well beyond trade in time. Born from Jaguar's long history of building powerful grand touring cars, the first generation XK took the market by storm and is probably one of the most representative cars of their no compromising design based focus. This pristine, low mileage XKR combines traditional old world Jaguar luxury with a sophisticated supercharged engine and a striking cat-like body to create a stunning modern classic with excellent performance credentials.

Envisioned to pay tribute to the classic Jaguar XK E sports cars of the 1960s, the first generation XKRs alluring, projectile shaped body combines the stylish lines of Jaguars XK8 series with freshened R spec trim and accessories. Painted in a dynamic shade of Zircon Blue that is as clear as a Caribbean swimming hole, this XKR's seductive steel reinforced monocoque body panels have never been wrecked or damaged in any way, and display the excellent build quality British luxury marques are known for. At the front of the car, an aggressive XKR exclusive fine mesh grille is centered between two recessed fog lights and fronted by two graphite gray vertical bars. Above that grille, a newly updated 'growler' badge which displays the words “Jaguar Supercharged” sits between two XKR exclusive self-leveling xenon high intensity discharge headlights with built in headlight washers. Above those headlights, an XKR exclusive functional louvered hood sits in front of clear factory glass that connects to a one-touch blue cloth top with a glass window. At the sides of the car, body matched mirrors sit on graphite gray mounts in front of flush chrome door handles and mid-body trim strips. Behind the convertible top, a subtle rear spoiler is centered between clear round tail lights that sit above pristine “XKR” and “4.2” badges. The convertible's aerodynamic design gives it a slick drag coefficient of 0.36, and the car simply oozes Jaguars 'big cat' brand philosophy with a taught profile which appears ready to pounce on the next thing that moves.

The chrome trimmed “4.2” badge on the car's rear valence is referring to Ford's hot supercharged 4.2 liter DOHC 'AJ' V8 which produces a healthy 390 horsepower and a robust 399 lb./ft. of torque! Utilizing an Eaton belt-driven supercharger, fixed camshaft phasing and stronger oil jet cooled pistons, the 4.2 liter 'AJ' is capable of carrying this rather heavy car to brisk 5.2 second 60 MPH sprints and an electronically limited top speed of 155 MPH. Tilt the massive blue hood and you'll find a clean, exceptionally maintained engine bay that has only seen 3,900 miles per year since it left the showroom. And judging by how clean and well-kept everything is, I'd venture to say this car was either used as a sunny day cruiser or, at the very least, kept in a garage most of its life. The engine is clean, reliable, purrs like a kitten when fired up and roars like a lion when the right pedal meets the floor.

Underneath the car, a Bosch “Mechatronic” controlled lightweight ZF 6HP26 6-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels while Dynamic Stability Control that's complete with Emergency Brake Assist eliminates wheel spin and ensures a quick stop in the event of an emergency. At the front of the car, a lightweight alloy crossbeam holds unequal length wishbones, uprated coil springs and adaptive telescopic shocks, and at the back of the car, a second unequal length set up includes driveshafts as its upper links, another pair of uprated coil springs and two more adaptive telescopic shocks. As part of the XKR's standard Computer Active Technology (CAT) suspension system, that hardware joins two-stage adaptive ride control that automatically selects firm or soft damping in response to driving style and combines with the cars anti-roll bars to enhance both comfort and handling. At the corners, standard traction control combines with a Brembo four wheel disc antilock brake system that includes radially ventilated 13 inch front and 12 inch rear rotors to provide sports car handling and short stopping distances. On the outside of those rotors, this XKR's wheel wells are filled with 18 inch green 'growler' capped 'Hydra' wheels that are wrapped in 245/45 front and 255/45 rear Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Open the doors on this low-slung XKR, and you'll find an ivory Connolly leather and Burl Walnut interior that is exactly what you would expect from a Jaguar. The heated power adjustable seats (12-way driver, 8-way passenger) show little to no wear at all and, the door mounted two driver memory system allows you to completely customize your driving position. Between the seats, the cars great looking ivory console holds an “R” branded leather wrapped MOMO shift knob above Jaguars famous J-gate gear selector and a 'sport mode' button which adjusts the cars shift points for maximum use of the AJ V8s power. Below the console, dark carpet that is protected by color matched floor mats contrasts nicely to the ivory seats and console while perfectly matching the cars pristine dash and two-tone door panels. Inside that two-tone Walnut and silver trimmed dash, a host of gauges complement standard JaguarNet navigation and a 320 watt Alpine premium audio system that includes eight speakers and a trunk mounted six disc CD changer. In front of the driver, a 'growler' branded wood and leather MOMO steering wheel sits on a tilt and telescoping column and features buttons for the cars audio, forward alert radar adaptive cruise control and integrated Bluetooth phone system. Wrapping the passengers in a cocoon of safety is Jaguar's Adaptive Restraint Technology System (ARTS) which includes dual front airbags, ultrasonic head and thorax side-impact airbags and a reverse park control system that emits a warning when you approach an obstacle while backing up. Behind the cockpit, a good looking ivory convertible boot sits above a spotless carpeted trunk.

Included with the sale is the cars original owner's manual and warranty booklets.

This Jaguar XKR is a clean, reliable luxury car with plenty of power and excellent road manners. With its unmatched combination of old world craftsmanship and contemporary modern conveniences you'll feel like an A-list celebrity on even the simplest errand runs. If you're in the market for a great fair-weather driver that excels at virtually everything it does, this powerful XKR convertible is your kind of car. Call today!
