Description

When it comes to a lot of performance for not a lot of money, it's hard to beat a Factory Five Cobra. The formula is simple; take a lightweight boxed chassis, wrap it in high-quality tight fitting fiberglass, and plant a hot small block Ford between the fenders for whiplash-inducing acceleration. This Factory Five Cobra combines spectacular realistic flame paint with an awesome, throaty roar and all the right hardware to turn your knuckles white with excitement! Best of all, it's a fully sorted, turnkey package that's available to you for a fraction of the time and money someone else put into building it. If you've been searching for the perfect car to maximize your dollar to thrill ratio, this red-hot Cobra is your ticket!

Factory Five has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work and this roadster is no exception. The flawless body doesn't have a wave or ripple anywhere; and exceptionally tight panel gaps, which have become a Factory Five hallmark, provide an excellent foundation for the cars flowing 'realistic flame' paint job. Once the spectacular looking flames branded the smooth body from nose to tail, they were intricately detailed in subtle blue, purple and green ghost tips to create one Cobra which actually has enough visual sizzle to match its legendary performance. Forget all those boring, traditional, striped cars that are a dime a dozen at virtually every major car show, THIS is the true personality of a Cobra!

And speaking of personality, the details of any great car can either make or break what would otherwise be an excellent, cohesive design language. That statement is especially true in replicas where details are sometimes treated as a way to cut costs or, in worst case scenarios, a complete afterthought. Fortunately, in traditional Factory Five fashion, this killer Cobra uses its design details as assets to enhance its sinister personality. At the front of the car, like-new chrome trimmed headlights sit above finned parking lights and two industrial black Cobra bumperettes. At the sides of those bumperettes, traditional vertical grilles border a massive radiator opening that, along with the cars lower air intake, is covered in bright silver mesh. Behind that radiator opening, the cars smooth fiberglass hood props a small scoop and locking chrome latches in front of a new glass windshield which is complete with a chrome frame, four wind visors and stainless wipers. At the sides of the car, great sounding ceramic coated side pipes sit below bright, finned aluminum air extractors, chrome 'bullet style' racing mirrors and a chrome driver's side roll bar. At the back of the car, a custom trunk graphic is centered between two chrome trunk hinges and a chrome tag light; and a traditional polished fuel filler sits above chrome trimmed tail lights and two more industrial black bumperettes.

Great looks are only part of this Cobra's appeal; it also does a very good job of going fast and making a lot of noise! Tilt open the glossy fiberglass hood and you'll find a late model Ford 302 V8 that looks almost as mean as it sounds. At the top of the motor, a chrome, low profile air cleaner features a '289' decal added for some vintage flair. That air cleaner funnels oxygen into a Holley 4-barrel carburetor mounted to an Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake. At the front of that intake, an MSD billet distributor sends spark from an MSD Blaster II coil to heavy duty Ford Racing wires which snake around clean, ceramic coated headers. At the front of the car, an aluminum radiator, which is complete with an electric fan, sends water through chrome flex hoses, and billet pulleys utilize a brand new V-belt to spin an Edelbrock water pump and a fresh chrome alternator. Aesthetically, the small block looks right at home under the satin black fiberglass hood, and the lightweight aluminum engine bay perfectly complements a plethora of sleeved hoses, attractive aluminum “Cobra Powered By Ford” valve covers and the cars slick, metallic red engine block.

One of the best things about buying a high quality Cobra replica is the modern hardware underneath. Fully sorted and as well done as the cars exterior shell, this roadsters tough tubular chassis and rigid suspension are ready to take on the fastest track you can find. Behind the engine, a modern 5-speed manual sends power to a proven 8.8 inch Ford rear end with stout 3.55 gears. At the corners, four wheel manual disc brakes with metallic red calipers combine with a manual steering rack to provide excellent stopping and turning without robbing the engine of power. Up front, the cars double A-arm front suspension has been equipped with coil over shocks which improve handling; and out back, the cars four link rear suspension has been upfitted with coil over shocks and panhard bars which provide excellent grip and drama free launches. Power flows to the ground through classic 15 inch Halibrand knock offs which wear durable 235/60 front and 295/50 rear Goodyear Eagle GT II radials that provide a great combination of performance and style. Thanks to an exceptionally high power to weight ratio, completely modern components and a stiff, purpose built frame, this roadster is a blast to drive and would most likely dispose of any traditional Cobra on race day.

Cobra interiors have always been simple, and even though this car ratchets up appeal with a few custom touches, its purist nature is still blatantly clear. The black vinyl bucket seats are firm, look as good as new and feature four point Simpson Racing harnesses for optimal safety. In front of the seats the cars gloss black dash is fronted by straight and tight black vinyl, topped by cool chrome vents and features a full assortment of Autometer gauges above well-placed accessory switches. At the sides of the seats, traditional fiberglass Cobra doors have been fitted with great looking door panels that feature leather map pockets and chrome door latches; and at the floor, like-new black carpet frames a traditional Cobra shifter, a chrome fire extinguisher and nice Factory Five logo floor mats. In front of the driver, a polished aluminum 3-spoke steering wheel holds a wood rim around a traditional “5” horn button, and behind the driver an aluminum trunk retains enough space to haul home plenty of trophies from the car show.

With its awesome paint job, solid small block engine and fully sorted track ready chassis, this bad ass Cobra provides an unmatched driving experience that's wrapped in spectacular good looks. It's the latest in a string of high quality, high profile Cobras we've offered which look just as good as the real deal while benefitting from modern technology and 21st century build techniques. Don't miss this opportunity to own a red hot, turnkey Factory Five roadster that's just as nice as an original Cobra, and probably more fun to drive, at a fraction of the price.
