Rare 40th Ann Shelby GT350SR Fastback 585hp 427ci V8 5-speed Air Conditioning
This Shelby GT350SR isn't a mere tribute, it's the first car in a short and significant production run that marked the 40th anniversary of two Shelby legends: the original GT350R and the 427 Cobra. Built by Unique Performance under Shelby's blessing, it's chassis #002, and one of very few completed before the program collapsed. That makes it not only rare, but also one of the most collectible continuation cars ever to wear the Shelby name.
The vision was bold: take the DNA of the '65 R-model and reimagine it with modern engineering, performance, and craftsmanship. Shelby licensed Unique Performance to build just 40 of them. But when the company folded under financial strain, fewer than 20 were actually completed. GT350SR #002 is the first car finished and fully sorted, with a clean paper trail, show-level detail, Shelby-blessed, and part of an exclusive club that won't get any bigger.
It's finished in Silva Silver with blue stripes, a color combo that's both aggressive and timeless. The body features a fiberglass hood with polished lanyards, a billet grille, Hella headlights, satin trim, side scoops, plexiglass quarter windows, and a pinned decklid. Everything fits right and shows to a high standard. Custom badging and functional side-exit exhaust round out the exterior.
Under the hood, it packs a Shelby Performance all-aluminum 351 that's been stroked to 427 cubic inches. The engine uses DC&O eight stack fuel injection with polished stacks, aluminum Shelby heads, MSD ignition, JBA headers, and a full stainless exhaust system with an H-pipe and SpinTech mufflers. Cooling is handled by a Be Cool aluminum radiator, SPAL puller fans, a Canton expansion tank, and an aluminum water pump. The accessory drive runs Concept One pulleys, a polished Powermaster alternator, power steering, and functional A/C. Visually, it's show-quality…polished bracing, finished hood underside, and clean plumbing throughout.
Power runs through a Tremec 5-speed manual and a blowproof bellhousing to a Currie 9-inch rear with a Truetrac differential and 3.25 gears, all housed in a Chassisworks FAB9 setup. The chassis features QA1 coilovers at all four corners with a rear horizontal setup, a Chassisworks power rack-and-pinion steering system, and Baer 4-wheel disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors. Braking balance is adjustable via an in-cabin proportioning valve, and the car's undercarriage is detailed, undercoated, and fully sorted. It rolls on 17-inch Foose wheels wrapped in fresh Nitto NT555s…245/45ZR17 front, 315/35ZR17 rear.
Inside, the cockpit is designed for both function and style. Shelby-branded hi-back bucket seats are paired with G-FORCE 4-point harnesses and a 4-point roll bar. The dash features Shelby signature gauges, a Kenwood Bluetooth-capable stereo, modern HVAC controls, and satin silver trim. A billet Shelby shifter, wood-rimmed steering wheel, and polished tilt column complete the driver environment. The rear seat has been deleted, replaced with a clean cargo area housing a fifth matching Foose wheel. A large fuel cell and a red-top Optima battery occupy the trunk.
GT350SR #002 isn't a clone, a kit, or a retro rebody. It's a documented, licensed Shelby continuation car with serious parts, legitimate history, and a low serial number from one of the rarest Shelby projects ever approved. It delivers on performance, presentation, and pedigree. If you're after a Shelby that stands apart from the pack, this one checks all the boxes.
