6.0L LS2 V8 Art Morrison Chassis 4-Speed Auto Paul Atkins Interior Disc Brakes
This 1956 Chevrolet Bel is the product of a nut-and-bolt restoration that resulted in a high-level restomod build, blending classic Tri-Five style with modern performance and craftsmanship. Every detail was carefully planned and executed to deliver a car that looks iconic but drives like something far more advanced.
Paint and bodywork were handled by Classic Auto Restoration (C.A.R.S.) in North Fort Myers, Florida. The finish is a deep, mirror-gloss black that really shows off the lines of the '56. Bright stainless trim and chrome bumpers offer strong contrast, while the bumpers themselves were smoothed, narrowed, and tucked for a cleaner profile. The front bumper includes a subtle custom-fabricated air dam. Chevrolet emblems were deleted for a sleek, uncluttered appearance. Out back, the distinctive '56-only taillights keep their unique and handsome look. It rides on staggered Billet Specialties wheels, 18 inches in the front and 20 in the rear, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 225mm front and 275mm rear. The overall stance is clean and muscular.
Power comes from a 6.0L LS2 V8 producing around 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, paired with a GM 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to a Strange 9-inch rear end with 3.55 gearing and a Truetrac limited-slip differential. Underneath, an Art Morrison chassis sets the foundation, featuring a 4-link rear suspension and double A-arm front. Adjustable Ridetech coilovers at all four corners and power rack-and-pinion steering provides modern handling. Stopping power comes from power-assisted Wilwood disc brakes all around with cross-drilled and slotted rotors for excellent bite and fade resistance.
Inside, the custom leather interior was designed and built by Paul Atkins, renowned for high-end hot rod interior design. The upholstery is Kalahari leather taken from the C7 Corvette palette, accented by tasteful black inserts in the bucket seats and full-length center console. Black contrast stitching adds detail. The Kalahari-matched dash features Dakota Digital gauges. The center console is home to power window switches, cup holders, and a Lokar shifter. Billet sill plates and front seatbelts complete a cabin that feels both luxurious and purpose-built.
This is an extremely well-built Tri-Five Chevy that balances show-quality finish with real-world street performance. It has the power and handling to be genuinely fun to drive while offering the craftsmanship and detail to stand out at any event. If you want a classic 1956 look with modern capability, this Bel Air delivers in every way.
