764hp Pro Touring Corvette 427ci Kaase LSX V8 Automatic Van Steel Suspension
Some Corvettes are preserved for their history, others are reborn to push the limits of performance. This 1972 Corvette Stingray manages both, beginning life as a documented Mille Miglia Red survivor with Bloomington Gold Survivor and Silver Certification as well as NCRS Top Flight honors. That pedigree provided the foundation for a no-expense-spared pro-touring build, executed with the best modern components while still honoring the car's authenticity. The result is a high-horsepower, corner-carving machine with the provenance to stand tall among collectors and the engineering to deliver on track or street.
Finished in a fresh, red clearcoat...this Stingray wears its classic curves with an exotic edge. The fiberglass body retains its original integrity, protected by ceramic coating with partial PPF and complemented by an L88 hood, Detroit Speed headlights and wipers, and a fast-ratio 10:1 steering box that sharpens turn-in response. Forgeline wheels wrapped in Falken Azenis RT660 tires provide both stance and grip, while bright chrome bumpers, quad taillights, and the signature Coke-bottle silhouette tie together heritage and modern aggression in one striking package.
Beneath the hood lives a fire-breathing 427 cubic-inch LSX built by Jon Kaase Racing Engines, delivering a monstrous 764 horsepower and 636 lb/ft of torque on pump gas. The GM LSX COPO block is fitted with a Callies crankshaft, Callies Ultra I-Beam rods, and Diamond pistons producing 10.5:1 compression. Mast Black Label 305 cylinder heads are paired with a Competition Cams roller camshaft, Jesel LS-series roller lifters, Trend pushrods, Jesel MAST LS7 rockers, and Comp valve springs. Induction comes from an MSD Airforce intake with Holley EFI, fed by an Aeromotive system and managed by Holley electronics. A Melling pump with Moroso road race pan ensures reliable oiling, while a C&R aluminum race radiator keeps engine temps cool and custom Kasse longtube headers feeding a 3-inch exhaust handles spent gasses.
Backing the engine is a heavy duty Hughes-built TH400 automatic with a 3,600-rpm stall converter, tuned alongside the engine by Kaase for seamless power delivery. Out back, 4.11 gears put torque to the pavement with authority. Chassis upgrades are equally serious, with a Van Steel autocross-spec suspension using competition-grade control arms and JRI coilovers, mirroring the setup used by Goodguys National Champions. Power steering adds welcome refinement to the driving experience, while Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes with two-piece rotors and safety-wired hardware bring the package to a halt, giving the Corvette confidence to match its towering output.
Inside, the car retains the essence of a 1972 Corvette cockpit but with thoughtful upgrades that make it a much more refined place to spend time. Black bucket seats are reupholstered with suede inserts for grip and comfort, while Dakota Digital HDX gauges provide precise information in a factory-style layout. A leather-wrapped Billet Specialties steering wheel, custom center console, and push-button electronic parking brake integrate seamlessly into the cabin, creating an environment that feels authentic at first glance but reveals its bespoke quality upon closer inspection.
The result is a Corvette that seamlessly bridges survivor-grade provenance with cutting-edge performance. Nearly 800 horsepower, competition-bred suspension, and a history steeped in awards and documentation make it one of the most complete and compelling C3 builds to ever hit the market.
