Description

By their very nature, street rods are often personalized expressions of taste. But when someone strikes that elusive combination of classic hot rod attitude and perfect modern car comfort, it creates a universal appeal which is truly something special. Recently, a customer of ours decided to fulfill his life-long dream of building a pristine '32 Ford Hi-Boy. He pulled out all the stops and spared no expense to create this show stopping roadster which mixes a serious appetite for trophies with killer street credibility.

This hot rods smooth and solid fiberglass body began life at Show Me Rod and Custom where it was steel reinforced, hand laminated, completely cured and fully assembled to ensure quality and consistency. Once the body arrived, it was covered in a coat of trailer queen worthy black paint that glistens like glass, and detailed with pin-striping and custom artwork supplied by renowned striper Alan "AJ" Johnson. With nary a ripple or misaligned panel anywhere, this positively evil little roadster looks like something straight off the pages of a vintage Hot Rod issue with just enough authenticity to satisfy even the most skeptical old school hot rod fans and just enough polish to win over the harshest judge.

At the front of the car, gloss black frame horns hold a polished spreader bar which nicely incorporates two LED turn signals into thin horizontal strips. Above that spreader bar, a pristine stainless grille sits between two chrome Dietz headlights and features a custom painted “Ford” emblem top dead center on its curved steel surround. Behind the grille a one piece steel hood meets a two inch chopped and tinted windshield that is surrounded by show quality chrome trim and hangs King Bee style rearview mirrors. At the sides of the car, the typical clean and simple look that defines classic fenderless hot rods is amplified by smooth jet black paint and accented by shaved door handles, minimal brightwork and just the right amount of visible chrome suspension bits to captivate your attention and draw you in. At the top of the car, a removable Sid Chavers Bop Top fits like a custom tailored suit and features a small glass window that is surrounded by bright stainless trim and weather resistant black cloth. Below that cloth top, 1950s Pontiac style LED tail lights sit above a Billet Specialties retractable license plate which folds down in front of the cars body matched differential housing, polished rear coil overs and stainless Magnaflow exhaust tips.

Under the steel hood, this '32 Hi-Boy is fresh, fit and presents a professionally developed 350 cubic inch Chevrolet crate engine that puts out a stout 300 horsepower. At the top of that engine, a chrome K&N reusable air filter shoots air into a chrome Holley 4 barrel carburetor that is fed by a chrome fuel pump and new polished fuel lines. Below that carburetor, a chrome Edelbrock intake sends that air/fuel mixture into eight sequentially fired cylinders that are sparked by a new GM HEI distributor and new Taylor plug wires. At the sides of the intake, finned polished aluminum valve covers sit above Sanderson Limefire Headers that are equipped with ceramic coated powercaps which give the car an authentic hot rod sound! At the front of the motor, a fresh V-belt spins billet pulleys below a chrome alternator that sits on a slick polished bracket, and a fresh aluminum radiator has been equipped with an electric cooling fan, a Billet Specialties radiator knob and a trick Billet Specialties overflow tank. The cars simple and straight forward engine compartment is finished in the same glossy hue as its exterior panels, and the thoroughly detailed motor, from its chrome engine mounts to its chrome thermostat housing and flex hose, contrasts well against its all black canvas.

Behind that chromed 350 cubic inch engine you'll find a brand new GM Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed automatic transmission with a chrome front cover and chrome pan that sends power to a rebuilt Ford nine inch rear end which houses great 3.00 highway cruising gears. Holding that drivetrain off the ground is a Pete and Jakes chassis that has been equipped with a chromed four link drop tube front end with show quality front shocks and a black ladder bar rear suspension with polished coil overs. Braking is handled by 11 inch front disc brakes that are complete with chrome show covers, and traditional rear drums that are complete with braided lines. Exhaust flows through 2.5 inch mandrel bent pipes to polished Magnaflow mufflers and stainless Magnaflow tips. The bottom of the car is completely detailed for show with a freshly painted floor and all new stainless lines and hardware. Putting the power to the pavement is 16 inch wire spoke wheels that are topped with new stainless trim rings, cool stainless “V8” center caps and fresh wide white wall tires.

Inside this '32 Ford you'll find a great looking Parchment leather interior that is both classy and fun. The pleated leather bench seat is firm, provides good support and features three sets of seatbelts. At the sides of the seat, custom pleated door panels flow into the cars custom covered firewall and feature sewn in map pockets below slick Billet Specialties door handles. Below the seat, upscale tan carpet is protected by matching floor mats and anchors chrome trimmed pedals, speakers for the cars Secret Audio sound system and a simple black shifter which is topped with an awesome custom made Lucite flame knob. In front of the driver, the cars body matched dash features a cool engine turned gauge cluster that is packed with Classic Instruments gauges, and a LaCarra banjo style steering wheel sits on a polished Flaming River tilt steering column. Behind the cockpit, the car's trunk has been upholstered and detailed to match the Parchment interior and features access to the aluminum fuel tank, a chrome fire extinguisher, an Optima gel cell battery and a great sounding CD changer.

Everything on this 1932 Ford Hi-Boy is 100 percent show ready and in immaculate condition! It's the perfect car for the '32 Ford fan who wants a fully sorted hot rod that's reliable enough to drive to the show and nice enough to take home the gold. Very few miles have been put on this car since it was completed; and while it's nice enough to be a trailer queen, its great sounding 350 and air tight powertrain are itching to be taken out onto the blacktop where you'll turn heads and rule the road! You really can't ask for a better street rod and you certainly can't build one this cool for the asking price. Call today!
