Fully documented by a Marti Report, this 1970 Mach 1 was manufactured on November 25th of 1969 in Metuchen New Jersey and delivered to Stoltz Motor Company in Patton Pennsylvania. According to Kevin Marti, this car was optioned with a black hood stripe, a 4-speed close ratio transmission, a traction lok differential, power front disc brakes, power steering, F70-14 belted tires with raised white letters, an AM 8-track stereo radio, a tachometer and tinted glass.

With 49,725 actual miles this 1970 Mach 1 retains all of its original body, except the driver's side quarter panel which was replaced during a thorough frame up restoration. The Mach 1 has never been fully disassembled resulting in a body that is factory straight with excellent fit and finish. The Ford Bright Gold Metallic paint looks phenomenal on this Mach 1, especially in contrast to the black accents. At the front of the car, the shaker hood proudly displays a painted flat black Mach 1 stripe which includes “428” on each side of the scoop to boldly announce what lies beneath. At the edge of that hood, factory chrome hood pins that are in excellent shape complement a show worthy chrome front bumper and straight stainless trim around the grille. Crystal clear headlights and chrome trimmed marker lights combine aggressive headlight buckets and ridged front fenders to provide an aggressive look. At the bottom of that ridged fender, finned rocker moldings are capped by stainless trim and run along the bottom of the car to complement the fastback profile. Just behind the front wheels, prominent “Mach 1” emblems are housed within those moldings and positioned below cursive “Mustang” fender emblems that feature showroom fresh black inlays. The “Mustang” and “Mach 1” emblems line up on the arc of the front fender to visually connect with chrome “Cobra Jet” emblems on each side of the shaker scoop. Excellent looking chrome door handles, drip rails and an antenna aligned perfectly at the top of the passenger front fender complement well-kept stainless windshield wipers and window trim around both the front and rear windows. Out back, a pristine Mach 1 tape stripe is divided by a “Mach 1” emblem with black inlay which is centered above a fresh black rear valence with factory fresh segmented Mustang tail lights. Below that valence, original chrome exhaust tips (yes, I said original) are inset from clear reverse lights and complement a show worthy chrome rear bumper. A highly detailed fuel cap with a red white and blue mustang emblem serves as a nice finishing touch, centered at the back of the car. According to the Marti Report included with this Mustang, only 2,539 Mach 1 cars were built in this color combination which means roughly 6% of 40,970 1970 Mach 1s and less than 2% of 190,727 1970 Mustangs were sprayed in this color.

Pop the hood pins and take a look at this cars legendary code R 428 cubic inch ram air Cobra Jet V8. Rated at 335 horsepower by the factory, these engines easily pushed over 400 horsepower on the streets and were designed to beat up lesser cars on the SCCA and NHRA circuits. This balanced and blueprinted 428 is original to the car and features all of its original components with the exception of the hydraulic cam which was swapped out for a solid cam during the restoration. Below the black shaker scoop, a correct Ford Blue air cleaner sits on the cars original Holley carburetor and a correctly painted Ford Blue block with original finned aluminum valve covers. A reproduction battery sits next to a correct radiator that runs water through correct hoses with correct clamps. The exceptionally detailed engine bay features satin black paint with correct Ford decals throughout. The shaker hood is as well finished in Bright Gold Metallic on the bottom as it is on the top… Everything, from hoses to plug wires has been restored to exacting standards and everything is spotless. You'll even find the original emissions control equipment and the original factory rev limiter, which is now unplugged and likely has been since the cars first lucky owner drove it two blocks down the road from the showroom.

The bottom of this car is every bit as nice as its top with expertly detailed, clean, original floorpans, and stainless hardware throughout the original factory optioned competition suspension. The cars original track ready 4-speed close ratio transmission, which was reconditioned in 1998, sends power to the cars original Ford 9 inch limited slip rear end which features a factory optioned traction lok differential that utilizes 3.73 gears to put the power to the ground. Held in by fresh shocks and original leaf springs, that rear end was converted into a 3.73 ratio from the cars original 3.00 ratio during the restoration and rebuilt again in 1998. Up front the cars original coil spring equipped suspension houses factory optioned power disc brakes and factory optioned power steering with correct new hoses and fittings. Original exhaust manifolds flow into a factory replacement exhaust system complete with a crossover, OEM mufflers and original stainless exhaust tips. The car rolls now as it did from the factory on a set of correct factory optioned F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas tires which ride on original steel wheels that are fronted by original full deep dish sports wheel covers.

Inside this Mach 1 you'll find a complete, largely original interior. The original Ford code 3A 'hi back' black Clarion knit and Corinthian vinyl buckets are in spectacular shape both front and back. The original dual cowl dash features excellent looking wood applique and there's no evidence of sun damage or dry rot. The passenger's side cowl features an excellent looking Mach 1 emblem and a factory clock. The driver's side cowl features a factory optioned tachometer, a speedometer, a fuel gauge and a temperature gauge all with clear lenses and no sign of wear. Between the cowls, a correct AM radio with 8 track player and heater controls are surrounded by great looking wood applique. That wood applique can also be found on the center console which houses the original Hurst shifter for the close ratio 4-speed transmission. The original factory optioned Rim Blow deluxe steering wheel matches the dash an console perfectly and features a the same red, white and blue Mustang logo found at the rear of the car. Original door panels look great given their age and use and all kick panels, sail panels and headliner pieces are in excellent shape. About the only thing that has been replaced is the carpet and it is protected by heavy duty Mustang floor mats. The trunk has been fully restored with a correct mat, spare tire and factory decal.

This car comes with a ton of documentation. There's the Marti Report that breaks down the cars options and authenticates it's one of one status. We also have the original Ford Motor Company Broadcast Sheet, the original Window Sticker and the original owner's manual. We have copies of some of the past titles, a folder of detailed receipts from the restoration and maintenance work completed since. We have a copy of the 2006 Mustang Club of America judging sheets and a box of awards from national concours level Mustang Club of America shows including a Lake Erie Mustang Owners Club 2002 Best of Show-Early Model trophy, a Lake Erie Mustang Owners Club 2006 Concours Driven Silver award, a Shelby American Automobile Club 2009 Beaver Run 1964-73 stock Mustang first place plaque and a Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club All Ford Powered Car Show 1969-70 stock Mustang first place plaque.
