At RK Motors Charlotte, some of our favorite cars are those capable of handling business at the track and comfortably idling in mid-summer traffic on the way home. Of course, this multi-use mentality isn't exclusive to cars. Having one machine that can perform multiple duties is almost always a good thing. Take, for example, this 2008 Monterey 214 FS sport boat. With Monterey's Facet Series styling, it is a boat that will turn heads regardless if you're out for a leisurely cruise with friends or an action-packed day of towing sports.
Clean design is one of Monterey's hallmarks and this boat is a fine example. Onyx black gel coat flows over a laser-straight fiberglass hull. Follow the lines and you'll find the Air Assist Chine that draws air underneath, providing additional lift and improved fuel economy. A tasteful hull-side graphic furthers the sense that the boat is already in motion, even when it is sitting still. A low-slung wrap-around windshield tops off the sleek profile. This boat comes with the optional tower, perfect for wakeboarding enthusiasts or anyone in need of an additional place to mount gear. When not cruising Lake Norman, this boat was dry stored and it shows. Without a visible flaw, the level of care the craft received is obvious.
The clean styling of the exterior doesn't stop on the outside. With open-bow seating, and an attractive wrap-around lounge aft, there is ample seating for at least eight adults. The cockpit looks to have been inspired by high-end European cars. With backlit, fog-resistant Faria gauges in an onyx black housing, vital statistics are easily in view so you can focus on the water ahead. A 25-quart carry-on cooler also resides near the cockpit with two smaller molded ice chests at the rear of the boat. That much cold storage should allow you to fill the ten standard cup holders with ease. A bimini top is included for those days when the sun is just a little too bright. When it's time to put the boat up, a high-quality cockpit cover fits tightly in place with ease.
Lift the center section of the aft lounge and you'll be greeted by a multi-point injected MerCruiser 5.0L V8 producing 260hp and 191 lb ft. of torque. A raw water system keeps the engine cool while a 70-amp alternator powers accessories such as the 4-speaker AM/FM, CD player. With this setup time to plane is roughly 4.3 seconds with an 8-second 0-30 mph time, making the boat ideal for towing sports. At cruising speed, fuel burn comes in just under the 9-gallons-per-hour mark, allowing the 55-gallon fuel tank to feed hours of non-stop enjoyment. MerCruiser emphasizes ease of maintenance by including an audio alarm that alerts you when oil pressure or other critical readings are out of spec. The craft has been serviced every season by the expert team at Westport Marina in Denver, N.C.
Fit and finish is exactly what you would expect from a sport boat that originally cost $45k. From the recessed cleats to the marble-like finish that graces the gauge surround, everything is first rate. When not in the water, the vessel rides on a brand new double-axle EZ-Loader trailer with composite fenders and LED lights in a waterproof housing. Receipts show that the trailer alone costs just over $2300. Included in the sale are several new accessories including a wakeboard, inflatable raft, and plenty tow rope. As always, every bit of documentation is included as well so you can get up to speed on your new toy as soon as possible.
If you're in the market for a reasonably-priced, low-hour, meticulously-maintained sport boat capable of conquering any challenge the lake throws at it, we have your boat. Bring your truck and start the summer season with a splash!
