Assembled in Van Nuys, California and delivered to Friendly Chevrolet in Springfield, Illinois this pristine 1992 Camaro Z28 spent almost its entire life heating up the weekend cruise spots just a few miles from its original point of purchase. Bathed in flawless GM code 10 Artic White basecoat/clearcoat paint, it appears to have never seen a drop of rain; and the all original body panels which, of course, are 100% showroom fresh in every way display factory correct fit and finish. White is an easy color to apply that looks incredible on the clean, chiseled flanks of 3rd generation Camaros, and this particular Z28 is an exceptionally preserved example of some of Van Nuys finest work. A lot of people rejoiced at the fact that GM was beginning to break its long habit of adorning Camaros with flashy graphics, but there's just something that looks so right about this cars white paint and Anniversary package-exclusive red stripes that I couldn't imagine leaving the heritage appearance box unchecked on the options sheet.

By the time this Z28 hit the production line, GM had been refining the third generation Camaro for close to a decade, and thanks to new production techniques the 92s were much more solid cars than their immediate predecessors. The cars design language, once viewed as very futuristic, had matured into a timeless Chevrolet 'family look' that would greatly influence its successor. Up front, a showroom fresh plastic bumper props a clean F3 Camaro emblem between four clear headlights which are recessed into satin black buckets. Below those headlights, a rectangular grille centers bright fog lights between, clear parking lights which feature cool dynamic lenses. On top of the hood, red 'blisters' flow up the stripes toward pristine factory glass which combines with a large glass hatch to give the cockpit an airy, open feeling. The sides of the car carry a clean, monochromatic appearance and features black flip up door handles, body-matched sport mirrors, arrow straight belt trim, and sculpted rocker extensions with red “Z28” decals as its only extraneous bits. And out back, a tall rear decklid spoiler hangs above a blacked out rear valence, factory fresh tri-color tail lights, a slick “25th Anniversary” emblem and a simple rear bumper which is branded with a third red “Z28” emblem and the words “Tuned Port Injection”.

Fortunately, the guy who ordered this slick third generation F-body knew exactly what he was doing when it came to selecting a good powertrain. In 1992, Chevrolet gave you a myriad of choices in the Camaro, ranging from a wheezing 140 horsepower V6 to a couple of quick V8s which included the top option L98 350 found in this Z28. Everyone knew it was basically a Corvette motor with only a slight difference in horsepower; and by 1992, Chevrolet had finally gotten so sick of the Mustang 5.0 slapping them around on the streets that they uncorked it for good. With an SLP enhanced 275 horsepower and 345 lb./ft. of torque on tap, this car is a perfect example of why the 90s saw the rise of the Camaro as the undisputed king of the pony car. The low mileage L98 in this Z28 is unmodified save for big tube intake runners, a tuned computer and a nice set of headers which replaced its super restrictive factory manifolds; and everything appears to be in factory-original condition, with all the original markings, decals, and tags still in place as they should be. Judging by how clean the engine bay is, it's highly unlikely that this car has ever seen a wet road, and there's no sign of corrosion on any of the metal parts, the plastic components aren't brittle from heat soaking, and the wiring is as-new. Besides the subtle tweaks and a small “Heartbeat of America” decal on the air intake, the only other non-factory component under this Z28s hood is a new battery. Hop in, key it up, and the tuned port fuel injection provides instant fire which immediately settles into a characteristic Camaro rumble which acts as a warning sign to any would be stoplight challengers.

The bottom of this pristine Z28 is a well-preserved time capsule which features all original floor pans and a super clean suspension. Four wheel power discs brakes are a welcome sight under any high performance pony car and the binders on this F3 provide quick, drama free stops with excellent pedal feel. Behind those disc brakes, a performance biased front strut and rear coil suspension combines with standard power steering to give the car serious turning ability. And behind the small block engine, a standard Turbo-Hydramatic 700R4 4-speed transmission, which does an excellent job of handling all the motors torque, sends power to an original 10 bolt G92 Posi-traction rear end with sporty 3.23 gears. The installation of the free breathing headers was complimented by a new mandrel bent cat back exhaust system which breathes through an aggressive sounding two chamber muffler and dual driver's side exhaust tips. The cars monstrous torque easily spins its original 16 inch Artic White detailed aluminum wheels and turns fresh 245/50 Cooper Zeon ZPT radials into a cloud of dust and smoke. Overall, the solid floor pans are exceptionally clean displaying no rust or damage of any kind, and there's no sign that this car has done anything except live a pampered life in a heated garage with an occasional exercise session to keep everything healthy and fit

One of the best features of this cool Camaro is its red interior; and as a relatively expensive option when new, it gave GM customers the opportunity to truly customize their new Camaro to their own tastes. In excellent condition throughout, this car's cloth presents no staining or fading and looks just as good as when the car rolled out of its Chevrolet showroom. The bucket seats feel brand new and the carpet, which is protected by color-keyed floor mats, exhibits no appreciable wear. Above the seats, a red headliner is stretched tightly across the roof, and at the sides of the seats, clean door panels hold warp-free arm rests below optional power door locks. At the center of the car, a pristine console carries switches for the power windows just behind the cars black GM shifter. And in front of the driver, a super straight dash holds a mandatory “Z28 25th Anniversary” emblem, a modern Pioneer AM/FM CD player, and awesome looking yellow lit gauges behind a pristine factory steering wheel. Behind the cockpit, the cars hatch, which looks like it's never carried anything other than a few loads of groceries, efficiently stows the spare tire under a trick built in privacy shade and has enough room for at least one suitcase and a few laundry bags. Thanks to the original buyer's decision to leave T-tops off his list of selections, this one of the tightest F-bodies we've ever offered, and with a pristine, fully functioning interior, it's every bit the car you would have received from your dealer in 1992.

Documentation included with the sale consists of the cars original window sticker, its original owner's manual and paperwork for the Pioneer CD player.

Also included with the sale is four awards presented to the previous owner at recent shows:
• 2002 Springfield Kiwanis Show Car of Excellence
• 2003 Wheels of World Car Exhibition Class Champion
• 2007 13th Annual CAZ Cazenovia Park Casino Show Best of Show for Stock 90-99
• 2nd Annual St. Barnabas Lawn Fete Spectators Choice Third Place.

From its Arctic White paint, to its quick 350 cubic inch V8, this 1992 Camaro Z28 packs a big performance punch and shows a lot of investment potential. Its combination of optional equipment and pristine all original paint create a classic recipe for a highly desirable pony car. And with just 12,806 miles from new, it's definitely an excellent opportunity for a savvy car enthusiast to get his hands on an increasingly rare car for not a lot of money!
