Description

When it comes to being a street rod enthusiast, there's no time like the present. Virtually anyone with a nice savings account and a little bit of automotive know-how can build an entire custom car with killer good looks and ground pounding performance. And the best part about these creations is: they're every bit as road ready as showroom fresh sports cars with twice the amount of style! This intense 1937 Ford coupe is a professionally built custom which mixes the best attributes of a 'velvet rope and red carpet' show car with the streetability of a well-tuned muscle car. Beneath its crowd gathering body, you'll find a modern 454 crate motor, a stalwart automatic transmission, a sophisticated air ride suspension and a whole lot of other top notch hardware which makes its $70K list price even more unbelievable than its pearl orange paint. If you're a hardcore street rod fan who's been looking for the perfect custom to show off at the next cruise night AND enjoy on the open road, you're search is over!

This awesome '37 Ford coupes smooth and sinuous fuselage began life at a small, but well-known company called Minotti Fiberglass in Naples, Florida. Established almost 20 years ago, Minotti is a diverse, family owned operation which has built a fantastic reputation for providing both top notch building components and great looking replicas of some of the most popular Ford street rods to ever roll out of Dearborn, Michigan. Once this cars solid and detailed Minotti body was fully cured and completely pre-assembled, it hopped a truck to Eastern Rod and Customs in Raleigh, North Carolina where a coat of trailer queen worthy Tangelo Pearl Orange urethane was massaged to perfection. Today, with only 63 miles on its ground up build, this sizzling street rod features the tailored sophistication of an OEM show piece, crisp contours that are much better than original Henry Ford steel, and a whole roster of top notch modifications which add even more appeal to its already outrageous design.

There really isn't much more you can do to make a late 30s Ford more attractive. The streamlined styling was a home-run when originally introduced; and today, it's a stunning example of some of the strongest elements of the highly regarded Art Deco movement. So when you build a street rod like this one, the best thing to do is let the original curves do the talking, and simply enhance what's already there. At the front of this slick '37 Ford, an aftermarket chrome grille sits inside two smoked and chrome trimmed headlights which incorporate hidden LED turn signals below traditional halogen bulbs. Behind that grille, a lightweight fiberglass hood meets a chopped and split windshield which is cleared by stainless wipers and sealed by fresh black weatherstripping. And at the top of the car, a great looking ridged roof sits over new smoked side and back glass. At the bottom of the car, like-new running boards ride between shaved, remote activated doors and stainless trimmed side outlet exhaust pipes. And naturally, the back of the car is just as clean as its profile with a shaved, handle actuated trunk lid and simple, chrome trimmed cat's eye tail lamps providing the only breaks in a sea of vivid orange paint.

'Don't fix what ain't broke' might apply to the looks of this awesome Ford street rod; but when it comes to the cars performance, 'bigger is always better'! Under the fully removable hood you'll find a fresh 454 cubic inch, 450 horsepower big block Chevrolet crate engine. At the top of that engine, a custom air filter funnels wind into a Demon 750 4-barrel carburetor which is outfitted with braided fuel lines, high quality Jegs fittings and a Marshall fuel pressure gauge. That massive carburetor sends air/fuel mixture into a chrome Edelbrock Performer intake which feeds eight sequentially fired cylinders that are sparked by a traditional HEI distributor and loomed Summit Racing plug wires. At the sides of that intake, chrome Mickey Thompson valve covers hang K&N breathers above ceramic coated Hooker Headers; and at the front of that intake, fresh V-belts spin a chrome Powermaster alternator next to a polished AC compressor. The cars clean and smoothed engine compartment is relatively sparse aside from a proven Walker radiator which wears a polished cowl cover and feeds chrome flex hoses. And it's finished in the same pearlescent orange as the cars exterior panels, which allows the thoroughly detailed motor, with its assortment braided hoses and trick details like a Lokar throttle linkage, to create plenty of trophy winning texture and contrast.

Behind the cars professionally designed big block engine you'll find a rebuilt TH400 3-speed automatic transmission which is one of the toughest and most reliable units GM has ever produced. Power flows from that proven transmission through a new driveshaft to a tough Ford 9 inch rear end which is bolted between the cars Tangelo Orange frame, a Heidts front subframe with tubular control arms, and a great handling four link rear suspension. And exhaust flows from the cars ceramic coated Hooker headers through ceramic coated true dual pipes to great sounding ceramic coated Magnaflow mufflers. Quick stops come courtesy of a Baer disc brake system which utilizes braided lines and chrome calipers to squeeze giant drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners. And ride height is completely customized thanks to a fully adjustable Air Ride Technologies suspension system. Not a detail was missed on the bottom of this show stopping Ford coupe, and the cars many niceties include a fresh, custom built fuel tank that's equipped with a high flow electronic fuel pump, braided fuel lines with Jegs fittings, completely stainless hardware and completely detailed, body-matched floors. Throwing the torque to the asphalt is a mirror-like set of 17 inch Budnik Gasser billet aluminum wheels which wear 215/40 Kuhmo Ecstas up front and 31x16.50 Hoosier Pro Street Radials out back.

Open the doors of this killer '37 Ford and you'll find a tasteful custom interior that combines the cars spectacular exterior paint with supple white leather which feels nice enough to adorn the centerpiece of your living room. The firm and modern Cerullo SC bucket seats are supportive; feel soft enough to take a nap on, and feature clean, color matched lap belts. At the sides of those seats, custom door panels hang slick body matched inserts below attractive billet aluminum door handles. And between those seats, a custom covered and body matched console anchors a chrome B&M shifter between switches for the cars power windows, a control panel for the cars adjustable air suspension, a polished emergency brake handle and a kill switch for the big block motor. At the front of the car, a stylish and simplistic dash hangs attractive Dolphin gauges above controls for the heat and air conditioning system, hidden buttons for the cars accessories, a modern Alpine CD player and a classic “V8” emblem. And at the top of the car, a custom leather headliner is stretched tightly around a clear dome light and a centered, body-matched insert. In front of the driver, a polished Budnik steering wheel sits on a chrome tilt steering column and features a matching leather rim. And behind the cockpit, a custom upholstered trunk conceals the cars fuel filler behind plenty of luggage space for weekend getaways.

As with and extensive build, this vivid Ford street rod comes with ample documentation. Included with the sale is a stack of invoices from Eastern Rod and Customs, paperwork for the air ride suspension and a few pictures of the cars construction.

Cool and classic this '37 Ford is a vision in orange, and every piece of it is 100% show ready and in immaculate condition. You really can't ask for a more impressive custom car, and you certainly can't build one this cool for the asking price. Step up to something different than the run-of-the-mill red '32s you see everywhere - this car is ready to show and go!
