Description

Talk about a lot of performance for not a lot of money! Take one lightweight FFR tube-frame chassis, wrap it in high-quality Factory Five vinylester resin laminate that emulates the most famous and curvaceous roadster of all time and then plant a built Keith Craft Racing small block up front for whiplash-inducing acceleration. Priced for less than the cost of building one yourself, this wild looking supercharged 1965 Cobra replica hits all the right notes to make your knuckles white with excitement! And when you factor in the added convenience of firing it up and driving it right out of our RK Motors Charlotte showroom, it becomes the ultimate car for an enthusiast who wants a complete, road ready package.

Factory Five has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work and this car is no exception. The flawless body doesn't have a wave or ripple anywhere, and the typically tight gaps that are a Factory Five hallmark laid excellent groundwork for an eyeball searing coat of Fords Chrome Yellow paint. And just in case that 1998 Mustang Cobra hue didn't scream “LOOK AT ME!” loud enough for you, a set of metallic silver stripes were added just to seal the deal. Not many cars can pull off an outrageous color scheme like this, but with its race-bred personality, serious mechanical hardware and excellent attention to detail, this Cobra is certainly worthy of ALL the attention it gets.

And speaking of details, they are often the downfall of an otherwise great design. Not so with this Cobra; the details serve as assets which enhance the cars overall them of loud and proud. At the front of the car, like-new chrome trimmed headlights sit above finned parking lights and industrial black Cobra bumperettes. At the sides of those bumperettes, mesh filled vertical grilles border a massive radiator opening which sits below a small red, white and blue “Shelby” emblem. Behind that emblem, the cars smooth fiberglass hood features a small hood scoop that is anchored at the rear by traditional locking hood latches and bordered at the front by two decorative hood pins. On top of the cars slick fuselage, a full powder coated roll bar sits below a custom canvass convertible top, and a new glass windshield that is complete with Factory Five Racing side visors is cleared by two-speed stainless marine wipers. At the sides of the car, industrial black side pipes sit below a brushed aluminum bullet style racing mirror, finned aluminum air extractors and traditional “427 Cobra” emblems, and at the back of the car, chrome trimmed tail lights are sandwiched between a second red, white and Blue Shelby emblem and two more industrial black bumperettes.

Great looks are only part of this Cobra's appeal; it also does a very good job of going fast and making a lot of noise! Tilt open the yellow fiberglass hood and you'll find a supercharged Keith Craft Racing 347 that, in its current tune, produces 625 horsepower on 93 octane pump gas. At the top of the motor, a custom fabricated four inch aluminum air intake feeds a Vortech V2S supercharger which creates 13 pounds of boost at 6,500 RPM. Behind that supercharger, a Holley Systemax ported intake throws air into the cylinders while a custom, laptop programmable F.A.S.T fuel injection system continuously monitors O2 levels and regulates fuel accordingly. That F.A.S.T. system is supplied by fuel that flows from dual frame mounted fuel pumps through Aeroquip push-lock hoses and AN fittings to an Accufab billet throttle body, billet fuel rails and custom flowed 50 pound fuel injectors. Below those fuel injectors, fully ported total engine airflow Trick Flow TW heads combine with low compression pistons, a custom grind cam and a completely forged bottom end to transform all that dino juice and air to instant power and a beautiful small block symphony that's roared through four into four ceramic coated headers and painted side pipes. At the front of the engine, a points distributor sends spark through fresh Ford Motorsports plug wires while an aluminum radiator that's equipped with a high speed electric fan keeps everything cool and a fresh serpentine belt spins a custom air conditioning system. Aesthetically, the small block looks right at home under the fiberglass hood, and the lightweight aluminum engine bay perfectly complements the massive silver Holley intake and attractive satin finish “Trick Flow” valve covers.

One of the best things about buying a high quality Cobra replica is the modern hardware underneath. Fully sorted and fully powder coated, this cars tough tubular FFR frame and suspension are ready to take on the toughest track you can find. Behind the engine, a durable Tremec 3550 5-speed manual sends power through a driveshaft hoop to a proven 8.8 inch Ford rear end with stout 3.55 gears. At the corners of the car, four wheel manual disc brakes which include drilled and slotted rear rotors combine with a manual Flaming River manual steering rack to provide improved stopping and handling without creating power robbing nuisance for the engine. Both the cars double A-arm front and four link rear suspension have been outfitted with coil over shocks and a complete set of polyurethane bushings for improved ride and handling. At the corners, 17 inch Cobra R wheels ride 275/40 Nitto Extreme radials to provide modern grip and complete the look. Thanks to an exceptionally high power to weight ratio, completely modern components and a custom frame, this car a blast to drive and could probably out handle any traditional Cobra in the turns.

Cobra interiors have always been simple, and even though this car ratchets up appeal with a few custom touches, the car's purist nature still shines like a fresh coat of wax on its bright yellow fenders. The black vinyl bucket seats are firm, look as good as new and feature four point Simpson Racing harnesses for optimal safety. In front of the seats the cars yellow topped dash is covered in straight and tight black vinyl and features a custom Autometer gauge layout between Honda push button start, vents for the cars custom built air conditioning system and an Autometer Pro Shift light. At the sides of the seats, traditional fiberglass Cobra doors have been fitted with leather map pockets, and the floor, which includes a lowered driver's foot well, is covered in like-new black carpet that frames a billet emergency brake handle and a traditional Cobra shifter with an authentic 427SC shift actuator. In front of the driver, a replica aluminum Cobra steering wheel looks great against the black dash, and behind the driver a chrome fire extinguisher sits in front of a fully carpeted trunk that includes a cooler recess and connections for the frame mounted battery.

Included with this Cobra is a full spec sheet that categorizes all of the cars components into a build list and a small envelope containing information about the F.A.S.T. fuel injection system.

With its loud paint job, even louder engine and fully sorted track ready build, this bad ass Cobra provides an unmatched driving experience that's wrapped in spectacular good looks. It's the latest in a string of high quality, high profile Cobras we've offered which look just as good as the real deal while benefitting from modern technology and 21st century build techniques. If you've been patiently waiting for a complete, well-built Cobra that'll light your fire and scare your passenger to the point of second guessing their ride home, this is your car. Call now!
