Description

These days, with the popularity of motorcycles rising almost as fast as the gas that fuels them, it's not hard to find great looking custom bikes. But how many of those customs actually have the perfect combination of proven dependability and jaw-dropping curb appeal that's going to provide you with years of happy ownership? I mean, you can always go out and find some pieced together beater that's been built by the president of your local Jesse James fan club. Or you can walk into our showroom and fire up this slick 2008 Big Dog Pit Bull which features a proven S&S V-twin engine, a modern 6-speed transmission, custom paint, and whole roster of accessory parts that were designed, fabricated and assembled by one company. And with its exceptional attention to detail and great fit and finish, this super clean two-wheeler provides the kind of comfort and ease of ownership that's only available from the largest custom motorcycle builder in America. So, if you're one of the many riders who likes to spend more time enjoying your bike than working on it, this fully-sorted Pit Bull is your kind of custom!

Big Dog Motorcycles started production in 1994 and, after executing roughly 25,000 builds, has become the world's largest manufacturer of two-wheel customs. The company's entire nine cycle line up utilizes 117 cubic inch S&S V-twin engines, 6-speed transmissions and an extensive variety of tailor-made accessories to create bikes with killer good looks and rock solid reliability. That dedication to both quality and appearance results in impressive hardware like this 2008 Pit Bull, which takes the tried and true 'best of everything' approach and cranks it to a whole new level!

While the basic idea of a mass produced pro-street might turn some people off, bear in mind this slick motorcycle was highly customized both during its build and after its completion. In order to compliment the roster of factory engineered accessories, the bike's owner took it to Reflections body shop in Waxhaw, North Carolina where a $4,000 tribal paint motif was carefully spec'd out. Once thumbs were up and pencils were down, its BDM frame and sheetmetal were stenciled with razor-sharp accuracy, based in brilliant Ice Blue, capped with Electric Candy Silver, and topped with enough clearcoat to create a spectacular, glossy finish. Then, as the proud rider of an individual masterpiece that was both dynamic and classy, the new owner decided to take things a step further by adding a full set of LED accent lights. And today, with a first-rate paint job, completely chromed accessories and a sinister after dark glow, this bike is one great looking road warrior with instant 'gotta have it' appeal!

Obviously this Big Dog Pit Bull was bought to both ride AND show. So at the time of its purchase, this custom's owner immediately spent $5,000 on ordering chrome accessories and, for the parts that weren't available in chrome, having his originals custom triple plated. At the front of the bike a chrome telescopic fork, which greatly contributes to a 33 degree total rake, hangs a chrome halogen headlight above chrome halogen turn signals, a 23 inch wheel and a 130/60 Avon Venom R tire. On the left side of those forks, a single disc front brake system utilizes Goodride braided lines to squeeze a chrome M&M 4-piston caliper around a large, drilled rotor. And on top of those forks, swept chrome handle bars center a multi-function Big Dog Motorcycles gauge pod between badass fork spikes, BDM accessory hand controls and custom BDM hand grips. At the center of the bike, an Ice Blue frame cradles a highly detailed S&S Super Stock V-twin engine that produces a classic, instantly recognizable sound. On the right side of that frame, a Big Dog Motorcycles Balance Drive snakes between a BDM accessory oil temp gauge and three more custom foot pegs. And at the top of that frame a 4.7 gallon fuel tank, which comes complete with a low profile fuel cap, fronts both a leather Big Dog Motorcycles spring seat and a stick on passenger seat. At the back of the bike, you'll find a sculpted rear fender which hangs over a huge 230/40 Avon Venom R tire and a 20 inch chrome wheel. On the left side of that fender, a second drilled rotor combines with more Goodride braided hoses and a second 4-piston M&M caliper to provide quick and even stops. And at the top of that fender, bullet style tail lights accent a slick Big Dog Motorcycles accessory tag bracket. Rivaling the best specialty pieces on the market, this fully-sorted cruiser is a 100% road ready showpiece that features an unmatched level of detail and a classic custom appearance

The heart of this great looking two-wheeler is a proven 117 cubic inch S&S Super Stock V-twin engine which utilizes a traditional 'square motor' configuration and two valves per cylinder to create a stout 9.75 to 1 compression ratio and acres of broad, flat torque. Founded in 1958, S&S Cycles is one of the biggest and most trusted motorcycle motivators in the world; and every Big Dog bike comes mandatory with one of their smooth and reliable mills. At the top of the highly detailed block, chrome rocker box covers shine above “S&S Super Stock” scripts that are stamped into powder coated and air cooled cylinder banks. A perfect mix of air and fuel is supplied to those cylinder banks by an S&S Cycles 'Shorty' 1-barrel carburetor which rides behind a color-matched spike air cleaner. Explosions are created by an electronic single fire ignition which hides between a stylish chrome coil cover and blue Taylor plug wires that are rigged with trick lighting. Compression is created by a Competition camshaft that spins beneath chrome rod covers and a polished cam cover. On the left side of the bike, the engine twists power through a proven Baker 6-speed manual transmission that features custom BDM foot and shifter pegs. And on the right side of the bike, high quality Vance & Hines pipes allow the rowdy engine to breathe as freely as it roars.

Although this motorcycle's awards are not included with its sale, it has won numerous accolades which include:

* Triple Crown at the local Easyrider Show
* Best of Show at the local Suck Bang Blow Show
* Gold at the Concerned Bikers Association Metrolina Bike Show

There's a definite difference between even the nicest homemade two-wheeler and a custom like this. Every piece of this motorcycle adds to both its awesome curb appeal and amazing street prowess, and there is simply NO WAY a build like this could be duplicated for anywhere near our asking price. What's better; Big Dog Motorcycles is still going strong, so you're virtually guaranteed factory support for years to come! If you're looking for a nice bike that's completely sorted and ready to enjoy today, this 2008 Big Dog Pit Bull is your ticket.
