Frame Off Built Camaro Convertible Pro Touring 4 Speed
Here at RK Motors Charlotte we pride ourselves on selling both the finest investment grade Camaros and the best pro touring F-body street machines. This stunning 1969 pro touring convertible tucks a modern GM Performance Parts Ram Jet 502 into a timeless muscle car design that has been lowered and tweaked with some of the best components on the market. Professionally built to cruise like a modern car and capture all the performance and style of the first generation F-body, it's a super cool, take-no-prisoners Camaro that is as impressive on the road as it is in the show field.
Recently frame off restored into a lean and mean Pro Touring dream car, this 1969 Camaro Rally Sport displays bodywork that is nothing short of immaculate. Every panel is aligned to better than factory fit and all the cars seams are narrow and precise. On top of the well-done body, a smooth Yellow paint job that seems just a shade brighter than GM code 40 Butternut Yellow is topped by black Super Sport fender stripes and satin black rocker panel paint that perfectly highlight the car's excellent lines. From the looks of its high quality finish, it appears that a lot of effort was put into making sure this cars paint is as slick as glass, and the result is an eye catching classic that has lethal curb appeal.
At the front of the car, a stainless trimmed black grille features a showroom fresh “RS” emblem and sits between stainless trimmed Rally Sport headlights that work well and close flush with the cars body. Below the grille, a showroom quality chrome bumper tops clear parking lights that are centered above a familiar Camaro D80 front spoiler that's free of curb rash. At the top of the grille, a pristine “Camaro by Chevrolet” emblem sits in front of a traditional ZL2 steel cowl induction hood and a like-new windshield that is cleared by intentionally dulled stainless wipers. Behind those wipers, bright, dent-free stainless trim that was likely bought new during the cars recent restoration frames both the car's windshield and its black power convertible top. At the sides of the car, new stainless rocker moldings combine with new stainless wheel well trim, chrome door handles, a correct chrome driver's side mirror and black trimmed Rally Sport fender louvers add just the right amount of detail to the yellow profile. On the front fenders you'll find chrome “Rally Sport” emblems just behind the front tires and white inlayed “502” badges that provide a subtle warning to would be challengers. At the back of the car, a D80 rear decklid spoiler sits above crystal clear segmented tail lights and a chrome “RS” emblem that is perfectly centered on the rear valence. Below those tail lights another showroom quality bumper hangs above Rally Sport exclusive chrome trimmed reverse lights.
Under the steel hood, an impressive GM Performance Parts Ram Jet 502 is dressed in a masculine shade of silver topped with slick aluminum valve covers. Straight from GM, this killer package includes high efficiency aluminum heads, an aluminum intake, forged aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods, a forged steel crank, a hydraulic roller cam, a fully calibrated ECM, electronic fuel injection and a stout 9.6 to 1 compression ratio that creates 510 horsepower and 565 lb./ft. of unmatched throttle response. At the back of the motor, a new GM distributor sends fire through red GM Performance Parts plug wires, and at the front of the motor, a Billet Specialties serpentine system turns a chrome alternator, a Stewart water pump and a chrome AC compressor. Exhaust exits through great looking ceramic coated long tube headers, and cooling is provided by a Ron Davis aluminum radiator that is equipped with both GM hoses and two quick spinning electric fans. This Camaros engine compartment is exceptionally clean featuring new satin black paint and including details such as polished hydraulic hood hinges and fresh silver sleeving to protect the plug wires.
At the bottom of the car, power from the clean 502 runs through a slick shifting 4-speed manual transmission to a GM 10 bolt rear end that is complete with correct reproduction chalk marks. Holding that hardware off the ground is a factory double A-arm front and rear leaf spring suspension that retains its correct power steering and has been upfitted with two inch drop spindles which provide a great pro touring stance. Braking is provided by a four wheel Wilwood system that included drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners, and exhaust flows from the coated long tube headers into a large welded aluminized pipes that are connected to aggressive sounding dual chamber Flowmaster mufflers. The cars solid floorpans are clean and freshly restored in GM satin black and small touches like a new stainless fuel tank, braided fuel lines, stainless hardware and reproduction chalk marks give it a detailed and show ready appearance. Putting the power to the ground is a spectacular set of aluminum Intro Vista wheels that measure 18 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear and wear 225/40 and 255/35 Nitto Extreme performance radials.
Inside the car, you'll find a fresh black houndstooth vinyl interior that features rich black buckets and an optional Z87 deluxe interior package which adds black molded door panels, wood grain dash applique and bright pedal trim to elevate the cockpit to a whole new level. In front of the driver, a great looking dash houses restored gauges and an electric clock above a correct radio and a chrome switch for the cars power top. Below the dash an optional center console houses a completely chrome Hurst shifter in a great looking wood trimmed shift plate. Below the console, correct black carpet is protected by black rubber floor mats and anchors traditional GM seatbelts. At the sides of the seats, black door panels are decorated with excellent looking stainless trim and correct chrome "Camaro" emblems. Connecting the driver to the road is a nice looking factory equipped steering wheel that features a silver “RS” emblem centered on bright wood trim. Out back, the cars fully restored trunk includes a new houndstooth mat, correct decals and a correct jack and spare tire.
If you're in the market for a pavement bruiser that is a blast to show off and even MORE fun to drive, your search is over. This expertly restored 1969 pro touring convertible mixes classic Chevrolet looks with a ton of power and some of the best suspension and braking components on the market. Why waste years of your valuable time and strain your bank account on a ground up Camaro build when you can walk right into our showroom, throw down about half the money you were going to spend and experience just how refreshing instant gratification is?
