Let's face it – custom choppers are the street rods of the motorcycle world. Great to look at and fun for short cruises, their usefulness as proper vehicles often fades as the trip meter rises. When the road ahead is long, it's time for a more refined kind of bike – one capable of providing a comfortable ride regardless of the distance. This 2006 Harley Davidson Road Glide is just that kind of bike. With custom looks wrapped in a touring package, this Harley doesn't skimp on visual cues but instead includes them in a full package ready to fulfill your road trip dreams. With just 2,545 original miles, this nearly-stock Road Glide is not only a great touring bike but the perfect blank canvas for adding personal touches. If you're in the market to join the Harley owners club or just want a great addition to your existing collection, this super clean '06 Road Glide may be the perfect solution.
Introduced in 1980 as the Tour Glide, the basic shape has remained the same making it one of the most recognizable motorcycles on the road today. Its signature piece is the “Shark Nose” fairing with dual headlights and a low wind-blocking screen across the top. Unlike many fairings, this one is mounted directly to the frame instead of the handlebars. Behind it, a sweeping tank with a center-mounted chrome strip that houses the fuel cap, flows into the sculpted leather seat. On either side of the rear fender, locking GTX nylon alloy saddlebags offer plenty of storage space. With the high fairing and low saddle bags, the side profile looks crouched, like the bike is ready to pounce. Harley paint is always impressive and this Road Glide is no exception. The panels are covered in a rich coat of Black Cherry Red with textured silver stripes across the fairing, tank and saddlebags. It's a great color for the bike and the subtle metallic really pops in direct sunlight.
Built as a touring bike, there are plenty of rider-friendly features that make piloting this Road Glide a pleasant experience. At the most basic level is the perfectly laid-out instrumentation spread across the inside of the fairing. Gauges include an electronic tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, voltmeter, oil pressure gauge as well as an ambient air temperature gauge. With silver faces and bright needles, they're easy to read in any light without compromising style. Above the gauges, a Harmon/Kardon head unit sends signal to the 40-watt Advanced Audio System which provides entertainment for long stretches of highway. A simple-to-use electronic cruise control system further aids riders on the boring roads. Simple clicks up and down raise and lower speeds by roughly 1mph – perfect for interstate travel.
Underneath that attractive body, the Harley Davidson engineers took their time in crafting a rigid frame capable of handling the rigors of extended cruising. At the core is a rectangular steel back bone which serves as the central support for the tubular frame. The front end features a telescopic fork with a 26-degree rake and 157mm trail, offering a stable ride. At the rear, a steel twin-sided swing arm keeps the back end planted while dual shocks absorb the bumps. One of the persistent myths about Harleys is that their stock brakes are less than stellar. This Road Glide is definitely out to disprove that. Braking is surprisingly crisp thanks to twin 10-inch rotors up front and a single 12-inch rotor out back. The frame meets the road through 16-inch chrome spoke wheels wrapped with Harley-Davidson-branded rubber in sizes MT90B16 and MU85B16.
The engine is always the focal point on a Harley and this Road Glide hosts an 88 cubic inch (1450cc) twin cam in the traditional V-twin configuration. Introduced in 1999, it was the successor to the Evo engine but differed from that engine in several ways including a new internal twin-gerotor oil pump, revised dual-coil ignition system and an update cooling system. The Twin Cam 88 utilizes a 3.75 bore, 4.00 stroke and electronic fuel injection to make 65rwhp – a comfortable match for this 800lb. cruiser. If you need more, this bone-stock powerplant is a perfect blank canvas to host any of the wide variety of aftermarket speed parts available for this popular V-twin. Breathing through new chrome Bassani pipes, the engine fires immediately and sounds awesome. Behind the engine, a five-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheel thanks to a belt drive. The combination is good for 54mpg on the highway and roughly 35mpg in the city.
Included in the sale is the original dealer paperwork from Reggie Pink, Inc. in White Plains, New York. There is also an original owner's manual, technical literature list, a “Welcome to the Family” packet and a spare key with a genuine Harley Davidson key ring.
With just over 2,000 original miles and all the right options to make cruising a pleasure, this 2006 Harley-Davidson Road Glide is the perfect bike for anyone looking to hit the road in comfort and style. If there's a room for Harley in your life, don't miss the chance to make this super clean Road Glide your own!
What Customers Are Saying
Some large branded car dealers could learn a lot from you guys on how to treat a customer and close the deal without the painful game that follows when you are just trying to buy a vehicle. Finally, a special thanks to you for priority you placed on closing this deal in record time. also a thanks out to Greg Smith for taking the lead on getting the truck to my location. he also is very good a making it happen versus just talking about what could happen.
Most of my car friends know about RK Motors and the high level of vehicles you offer at much less than anyone could build the same vehicle. going forward I will promote that the people & process are at the same level as the vehicles that RK Motors offers.
