Description

For every street rod, there's a trend. For every trend, there are admirers. And for every admirer, there's a dilution of the street rod that created the trend in the first place. But every once in a while a trend is so powerful it not only becomes the standard for what's cool with a particular model, it also sets a baseline for that model's respective fans. Need some examples? We all know you can't build a serious Willys without a tubbed rear end. And we also know you can't build a Ford coupe without shaved door handles. Like it or not, these are just unspoken facts of gearhead life. With its square proportions and simple form, the beloved Ford F100 is certainly a standard in the street rod world. And the baseline for notable Effie builds is a solid, lowered body that's covered in wet-look paint, a small Ford V8 that's clean and fully detailed, big wheels and tires that are neatly tucked under the fenders and an upscale, custom interior. The question then becomes: what happens when someone takes a standard, meets the baseline and then showers both with a roster of innovative ideas and three foot deep pockets? You get a national award winning custom like this killer 1955 Ford F100 that is THE truck to have! If you're a diehard Ford fan, an old school truck lover, or just a curious buyer who's looking for something that's exceptionally well done, this striking F100 is EXACTLY what you've been waiting for!

When this red-hot Effie's owner exchanged $500 of hard earned cash for a well-worn truck, he had every intention of building a nice, reliable cruiser. He proudly hauled his new investment home, recruited the help of his son and a knowledgeable friend, and spent many afternoons and weekends doing just that. It wasn't until the family took the truck to the F100 Supernationals in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee that things started getting serious. And upon returning to the garage that spawned his newly minted driver, the owner immediately started tearing the truck apart with the goal of building a world-class showpiece. In 2010, fifteen years after the truck had been purchased and brought back to life as a two lane tarmac tourer, the owner rolled his new creation out at that same F100 Supernational show and took home its coveted Truck of the Year award. Since beginning its career as a show queen this squeaky clean Ford hasn't really been driven on the road, so its custom Dupont basecoat/clearcoat finish is virtually flawless. Its gold and silver graphics, which were inspired by a vintage drop-top the owner remembered seeing as a kid, are timeless and well-done. Of course, fit and panel alignment is as perfect as such a thing can be. And no that isn't just the fender's bright red hue reflecting in the door's jet black profile, the truck's paint actually does have a very subtle red fleck. If you're looking for something to make the judges weak in the knees at the next custom show, you've found your poison!

A big part of successfully marketing cars and trucks is coming up with memorable but sometimes cheesy slogans. And I know you might find this cliché, but I think 'Built Ford Tough' and 'Built To Last' perfectly describe this fine custom. Despite taking on the softer attributes of a street rod, it still maintains the rugged good looks of traditional Ford trucks. And, thanks to its owner's carefully planned modifications, it has a distinct charm that'll last for generations. At the front of this awesome '55 F-series a custom chrome grille hangs a traditional “V8” emblem and modern tri-bar headlights, which come complete with integrated parking lights, over custom billet bumper spears. Behind that grille, a forward-tilt hood fits snug at the base of like-new glass which is trimmed in fresh weatherstripping and topped by a curved chrome drip rail. At the sides of that hood, broad steel fenders lead the eye to stylish chrome mirrors, traditional chrome door handles and old school aluminum lock cylinder covers. Below those fenders, pristine painted running boards flow towards an electric tilt bed that's complete with a spotless Lexan floor. And at the back of the truck, awesome “V8” bed caps center a “Ford” stamped tailgate over a custom roll pan, another custom bumper spear, six oblong tail lights and a pair of polished exhaust turndowns.

Unfold that smooth gliding Mid Fifty F-100 hood mechanism and you'll find a 32-valve dual overhead cam Lincoln InTech V8 which continues to be one of the hottest and most versatile engines ever produced. Stout, solid and highly adaptable, these Teksid aluminum blocks have spent the last two decades powering everything from Mustangs and street rods to Aviators and Panoz roadsters. And not only does this modern gem crank out roughly 300 horsepower, it also features a highly polished appearance that, when combined with the truck's bright red engine bay, literally looks like a jewel in a box. At the top of the mirrored engine a polished aluminum intake snorts oxygen through a custom air tube and mixes it with a steady stream of dino blood that's pumped through polished fuel lines via a factory electronic injection. At the sides of that intake, polished aluminum cam covers prop Ford branded coil covers next to polished breathers. Below those cam covers, ceramic coated Ford Motorsport headers swirl spent gases into a fully polished, true dual exhaust system. In front of those headers, polished pulleys and polished brackets spin a polished AC compressor and a polished alternator in front of a polished timing cover. And at the front of the engine bay, a polished Griffin radiator is sandwiched between polished overflow tanks, stainless water tubes, a polished cap and a chrome, large diameter puller fan. Aesthetically, the clean engine bay is a virtually flawless piece of street rod art that literally contains no unfinished or un-plated pieces from its chrome cable looms all the way to its braided Fragola Performance Systems hoses. All the truck's wiring and plumbing has been artfully hidden and tucked out of sight. And the big engine displays a first-rate level of workmanship which creates instant power, an OEM level of reliability and the raucous idle Ford mod motors have made famous.

As nice as this award winning custom's thoroughly updated engine bay is, one look under its fenders will bring true meaning to the phrase 'You ain't seen nothin' yet.' Behind the high-revving cammer, a polished Ford electronic AOD 4-speed spins a narrowed and chromed Ford nine inch rear end via tall 3.73 gears and a polished aluminum driveshaft. Serious stops to counter the truck's serious power are provided by a Wilwood four wheel disc brake system which clamps polished calipers around 11.5 inch drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust duties are handled by polished 2.5 inch pipes that growl through polished Borla dual chamber mufflers. And that first class drivetrain is held off the ground by a C-notched frame which, along with the solid floors, has been bathed in the same glossy basecoat/clearcoat finish as the truck's exterior panels. At the front of that frame, a polished Heidt's Superide II independent suspension utilizes polished Heidt's power rack and pinion steering and stainless coil over shocks to provide a pleasant ride with a modern feel. At the back of that frame, a stainless Heidt's four link suspension utilizes two more stainless coilover shocks to provide drag strip worthy launches. And keeping all this muscle rolling down the road is a slick set of Billet Specialties Vintec II wheels which spin 245/40ZR18 front BF Goodrich G-Force radials in front of 275/35ZR20 rear BF Goodrich G-Force radials. With a beefy drivetrain that's reliably built to be both tough and fun to drive, this '55 Ford is the real deal. And with its clean floors and list of impressive hardware that includes a polished starter, a polished crossmember, polished stainless plumbing and a Tanks Inc. molded polyurethane fuel tank, it'll fare well at any show you attend!

Inside this re-envisioned F-100 a tastefully customized interior combines enough style for the most discerning judge with enough comfort for the longest road trip. At the front of the truck a body-matched dash hangs white-faced Auto Meter gauges behind a billet, Ford branded instrument panel, a full array of polished aluminum trim and controls for a Vintage Air climate system. At the center of the truck, a custom bench seat wears a supple red Ultraleather cover that's trimmed in contrasting black piping. And at the bottom of the truck a color-keyed Ultraleather floor mat props an MP3 compatible Kenwood sound system opposite simple chrome foot pedals. In front of the driver, a matching Billet Specialties Vintec steering wheel spins a half-wrapped rim around a polished tilt column. At the sides of the driver, custom Ultraleather door panels hang sculpted armrests below cool, Ford-branded door handles and polished power window switches. And above the driver, a custom Ultraleather headliner is stretched tight behind a polished courtesy light and a chrome rearview mirror.

Even though the sale of this awesome Ford DOES NOT include any trophies, the truck's prestigious accolades are certainly worth mentioning.
