GM Files To Trademark Cadillac Celestiq Design Themes

By Sam McEachern - Aug 10, 2022

GM has filed to trademark four separate trademarks for the Cadillac Celestiq that are expected to be used for the upcoming battery-electric luxury sedan’s various available design themes.

GM Authority located GM trademark filings for Cadillac Celestiq Aurora, as well as Celestiq Magnetic, Celestiq Mist and Celestiq Aura. All four of these trademark applications were filed on August 5th, 2022, and were filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office under a goods and services category reserved for “motor land vehicles, namely automobiles.”

We believe these various Cadillac Celestiq-related trademark filings will be the names of available design themes for the vehicle. These will likely be themes conceived by Cadillac designers that combine a certain exterior color and trim combination with specific interior colors. Customers will not be beholden to certain design themes, however, as the Cadillac Celestiq will be highly customizable, similar to a Rolls-Royce or Bentley. The vehicle will also be hand-built in very limited numbers at the GM Warren Tech Center in Michigan.

The Cadillac Celestiq Show Car made its official debut in July. The battery-electric flagship features a unique liftback body style, which pulls some inspiration from early Cadillac sedans like its V16-powered prewar coaches, as well as the 1957 Eldorado Brougham. The production version of the EV will tap GM’s BEV3 platform, Ultium Drive motors and Ultium modular battery pack technology. Other noteworthy tech expected to make it to the production model includes a wide 55-inch infotainment display, a Smart Glass Roof with Suspended Particle Device technology (SPD) and GM Ultra Cruise.

GM has yet to say when the Cadillac Celestiq will officially enter production.
