Description

Chevrolet has long been considered a 'working man's brand'. The interesting thing is, despite those humble origins, Chevy consistently peddles enough content-laden trucks to also be considered one of the best-selling luxury marques in the world. No doubt, a big part of the firm's upscale appeal comes from the Corvette. From 1950s optimism to 21st century moxie, the Chevrolet Corvette has always represented everything aspirational about the automotive experience. Of course, another part of that appeal is the franchise's long history of creating many of the world's most iconic vehicles. And that unique axiom is exactly where you'll find this stellar tri-five custom: self-assuredly rumbling at the crossroads of timeless style and world-class athleticism. Timeless, of course, because it's a 1957 210 that's been lovingly massaged through a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration. And a world-class stoplight slayer because, during that restoration, it was fitted with 6.2 liters of smooth Chevrolet Performance small block! Ready to see why the bowtie brand is affectionately called USA-1?

TWO TENS

Cruised and cherished by the same loving family for 51 years, this sultry 210 rolls on the right side of excellent thanks to a professional rotisserie restoration that was perfected by the pros at Cleveland, Georgia's Designer Street Rods. Naturally, that build involved nut-and-bolt disassembly and a full strip to bare metal. Once solid and smooth, those timeless surfaces were carefully sealed in glossy two-stage that reflects a custom take on Aston Martin Charcoal Gray. And today, this sweet Chevy is a lights-out custom that's earned national accolades at some of the biggest shows in the collector car hobby!

Literal proof that more doesn't necessarily mean better, this post sedan turns virtually every head it passes by simply doing what it does best: being one of the finest classics on the planet. No heavy add-ons or overwrought fabrication, just balanced proportions and tasteful aesthetics. At the front of the car, a sculpted bumper points black-tipped, Bel Air-style Dagmars beneath a 210-spec grille that's lead by a custom Chevrolet crest. Hooded buckets shade trick Harley-Davidson headlights, which frame Bel Air style header ornamentation that swaps traditional gold for attractive chrome. Between those torches, familiar Spear Bullet Spoons lead capped Delay Wipers, which front a smoked and stainless-trimmed greenhouse. That glass gets reflected by tidy mirrors, which join factory door handles and ornate fuel injection scripts above Bel Air-style Speed Spears and Bel Air-style fender louvers. Those louvers, devoid of their usual gold sheen, oppose clean 210 quarter trim that melts into modern, LED taillights. And those lights cap a 210-spec bumper beneath Bel Air-style trunk badging that, you guessed it, favors chrome instead of gold.

FUEL INJECTION

Enact this Chevy's polished hood supports and you'll find 6.2 liters of divine GM small block. Officially known as the Chevrolet Performance LS376/480, that trusty engine twists a respectable 495 horsepower into 473 lb./ft. of pavement-slaying torque! At the top of the block, a polished air box slinks breeze through a proven GM throttle body. Reliable electronic fuel injection lines a composite GM intake and rectangular-port L92-style heads. Factory coils fire hot AC Delco plug wires. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons provide stout 10.7 to 1 compression. A hydraulic roller cam maximizes intake efficiency. Speaking of breathing, that smooth valvetrain funnels spent gases through coated Hooker Super Competition headers. There's a lightweight aluminum radiator that's slid between a custom support and twin puller fans. A bright serpentine drive spins a polished alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. Fast Chevrolet scripts, embedded in glossy carbon fiber, cap a custom-painted engine cowl that, along with a custom-painted oil cap, adds a whole lot of style. And, as you likely deduced from our photos, the fresh mill rolls in a smooth, body-matched frame that's finished with niceties like trick dipsticks, blended brake components, custom inner fenders and a smoothed firewall.

MODERN MARVEL

Not surprisingly, the bottom of this show worthy bowtie continues the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology. Glossy floors create a picturesque backdrop for a crisp factory frame that's been stripped, smoothed and fully finished. That chassis looks especially appealing built with tubular arms, big sway bars, QA-1 coil-overs, QA-1 shocks and monochromatic lowering blocks. Behind the LS3, a tough 4L70E 4-speed makes excellent use of a color-keyed Currie 9-inch. Easy turns come courtesy of a power-assisted BorgWarner steering box. Speed gets scrubbed by power-assisted Baer calipers, which drain a quality Baer master cylinder to cinch a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. A custom-fabricated fuel tank secures plenty of 'go juice'. Aluminized exhaust feeds rowdy Flowmaster mufflers and polished stainless tips. And all that hardware rolls on handsome Billet Specialties Invaders, which spin 225/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 G2s in front of 255/40ZR19 Nitto NT555 G2s.

CUSTOM AND COOL

Swing the doors and you'll find attractive custom upholstery that was professionally stitched and installed by Paul Atkins Interiors of Hanceville, Alabama. Supple bucket seats wrap subtle lap belts and rich Terracotta leather around full power adjustment for both the car's driver and front passenger. Between those reclining thrones, a custom console stretches glossy carbon fiber trim around billet power window switches, a short Lokar shifter and custom Kenwood audio that's complete with a backup camera. A body-matched 210 dash hangs tweaked Classic Instruments telemetry over billet foot pedals and controls for cool Vintage Air conditioning. Flowing door panels float a sharp combination of billet and carbon fiber between clean Daytona Carpet and remote-controlled power door locks. The driver spins a polished and bowtie-branded steering wheel around a tilting Ididit column. And a custom-upholstered trunk rounds out the style.

Owning a lights-out classic is cool. Owning a lights-out classic that's been tastefully customized is something few are lucky enough to experience. Owning a tastefully customized, lights-out classic that's propelled by one of the hottest powerplants ever created is the stuff most gearheads dream about. Don't miss your chance to enjoy this incredible tri-five!
