Description

What happens when you take a '32 Ford body, bolt it to a custom-fabricated frame, drop in a modern Chevrolet V8 and pile on a list of mind blowing parts for good measure? You get one incredible street rod that instantly becomes the center of attention wherever it goes! Featuring a highly modified appearance, a custom leather interior and a level of detail that requires multiple looks to fully comprehend, this stunning red roadster is a compilation of top-notch components from some of the biggest names in the business. And what's better: it's a fully documented and professionally finished cruiser that was built, above all else, to be driven and enjoyed. If you're the kind of enthusiast who wants an impressive classic that you can hop in, turn the key and go cruising with, your chariot has arrived!

Officially titled as a 1935 model, this hot Ford's smooth and solid fiberglass began life at Zipper Motors in Farmington, Utah where it was fully reinforced, hand-laminated and completely cured to ensure a level of quality consistent with steel. Since all Zipper cars are made to order, this roadster is unique in its combination of blending the firm's proven body with full '32 Ford fenders and a pointed and scooped 1933-style grille. And finally, Darrel Zipp's high-quality glass work was lovingly finished in a professional layer of DuPont Chromabase Viper Red that's been buffed to an incredible shine. Of course, to execute any ultra-clean street rod well means you need to go the extra mile to get everything straight. And fortunately, the guys working on this slick little number understood the scale of their mission and sanded until their fingers bled. Today, the car's body shows some signs of being driven and enjoyed; after all, who builds a rod like this and doesn't immediately go out and have some fun? But overall, it's one highly unique custom that's in outstanding physical condition!

Striking an excellent balance of old and new alike, this well executed Ford mixes the unique appeal of pre-war design with the monochromatic style of modern hot rod building. At the front of the car, bright H4 headlights flank a slick billet grille that's capped by a body-matched frame. At the top of the car, an awesome visor-style windshield props a contoured roof over modern red mirrors. At the sides of the car, straight fiberglass fenders hang scratch-free running boards below completely shaved doors. And at the back of the car, a smooth trunk lid rides above flush fitting LED tail lights and big stainless exhaust tips.

Pop the car's tight-sealing hood and you'll find a fresh, fit and fully built GM Performance Parts small block that's been designed for both performance and reliability. GMPP's rugged LT1-P V8 utilizes a cast iron block, a nodular iron crankshaft, a hydraulic roller cam, powdered metal connecting rods, flat top hypereutectic pistons and cast iron cylinder heads to turn 9.6 to 1 compression into rich, streetable power. At the front of that smooth engine, a reusable filter element shoots air into an Edelbrock multi-port fuel injection system through a reliable GM throttle body. That perfect air/fuel mixture flows into eight sequentially fired cylinders that are sparked by a complete Haywire wiring package, and ignited by high performance plug wires. At the sides of the block, polished aluminum valve covers, which perfectly match the engine's polished top piece, hang above high quality Hedman Hedders that allow the car plenty of room to breathe. And at the front of the block, a Billet Specialties serpentine system spins a polished Tuff Stuff alternator behind a giant electric puller fan and an AFCO aluminum radiator. Part of a super-sanitary installation, the eager mill features many polished components and a roster of body-matched trim pieces that disguise all of it wiring and other functional bits. Dig the custom painted master cylinders on the firewall that feature separate reservoirs for the front and rear brakes. And everything from this Ford's glossy red engine bay to its chrome hood strut is fully sorted and detailed for show.

Underneath this cool street rod you'll find a complete Zipper chassis that's been fully boxed and decked in vivid Viper Red paint. Behind the car's sweet Chevy engine, a 700R4 StreetFighter 4-speed, which was sourced from the fine folks at Total Cost Involved, flows power to a body-matched Ford nine inch rear end. Holding that stellar drivetrain off the ground is an impressive custom suspension which features a Kugel Komponents Phase II kit up front and Aldan coil over shocks out back. Turns are a cinch thanks to modern rack and pinion steering system that provides a tight radius and great wheel feel. Stops come courtesy of a Wilwood four wheel disc brake system that's augmented by Zipper back plates and a Lokar emergency brake assembly. Exhaust is handled by polished stainless pipes which rumble through polished, two-chamber turbo mufflers and large, trumpeted tips. And putting the power to the pavement is a nice set of polished Weld Rodlite wheels which spin 195/60R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 285/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. Not a detail was missed on the bottom of this fully sorted roadster, and the car's many niceties include an application-specific fuel tank that was designed and installed by Zipper, a complete set of AN fittings, billet motor and transmission mounts and completely finished, body-matched floors.

Inside this awesome street rod you'll find a $6K leather interior that was designed and installed by Boss Customs of Evansdale, Iowa. There's modern, contoured seats which are firm, provide good support and look fantastic. At the sides of those seats, sculpted red door panels feature deep pockets that are as functional as they are stylish. Below those seats, clean red carpet anchors a traditional Lokar shifter behind chrome-trimmed foot pedals. In front of those seats, a body-matched dash hangs sweet ghost flames and a “V8” branded instrument panel behind white-faced VDO gauges, a Sony tape deck and billet accessory knobs. In front of the driver, a banjo-style steering wheel spins a color-keyed rim around a polished tilt steering column. And behind the passengers, the car's fully upholstered trunk is detailed with an embossed “V8” insignia, embossed flames and trick billet hinges.

The sale of this old school roadster, which is titled as an actual 1935 Ford, includes a Certificate of Origin from Zipper Motors, a sizeable stack of build receipts and a few random component manuals.

Since Zipper is now focused on building their Track T-Style bodies, this Ford isn't exactly something you'll see at every show. And its full fenders, '33 grille, no-cowl hood and trick windshield will get you noticed no matter where you go. In the summer, is there anything better than a 2-seat crowd-gatherer that barks through a big V8 and stares through retina-searing red paint? I think not. Come in and pick up your turn-key hot rod today!
