Description

Have you been paying attention to first generation Z/28 prices lately? Great cars are being snatched up for strong money and big returns almost as fast as they hit the market! At RK Motors Charlotte we retail more authentic Z/28s than anyone in the world and over the past three months we've sold just as many investment grades coupes. First there was the "documented Daytona Yellow car":http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/sold#!/1969-Chevrolet-Camaro-Z-28/132633 we shipped in August for a solid $80K. In September, we followed that deal up with our "1 of 1 Dover White Z/28":http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/sold#!/1969-Chevrolet-Camaro-Z-28/132632 which rolled out of the building at $100K even. And finally, our "numbers matching Fathom Green coupe":http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/sold#!/1969-Chevrolet-Camaro-Z-28/132832 left just last month for a smooth $85K. But here's the kicker: none of those cars we're cross ram equipped. And that makes our latest Z/28, an Olympic Gold cross ram coupe, which is priced at only $70K, a tremendous value. If you're a serious Chevrolet collector who's looking for a fresh showpiece that's road ready AND priced to sell, you've come to the right showroom!

One look at this awesome pony car's clean cowl tag suggests it's a real deal X33 Z/28.

* 69 = 1969 model year
* 12437 = 1: Chevrolet, 2: Camaro, 4: Fixed digit, 37: Hardtop
* NOR = Assembled at GM's Norwood, manufacturing facility
* 124994 = Fisher body number
* 711 = Black standard bucket interior
* 65 = Olympic Gold paint
* B = Black vinyl top
* 09D = Assembled during the fourth week of September 1969
* X33 = Style Trim Group with Z/28 special performance equipment
* D80 = Optional air spoiler equipment

Take a close look at the body of this striking Camaro and you'll feel like you've stepped right back in time to watch it make its triumphant debut at Knoxville's Reeder Chevrolet. The car's correct GM code 65 Olympic Gold basecoat is flat and glossy, riding on bodywork that was carefully and sparingly performed. That body looks straight and clean from any angle with good, even gaps which suggest someone really took their time re-assembling its panels. And all this steel goodwill is topped off by a pair of glossy black rally stripes that foretell exactly the asphalt patterns the car's vicious small block engine aims to paint. Have you ever heard the phrase “a wolf in sheep's clothing”? Yeah, whoever popularized that phrase must've owned a first generation Z/28!

The overall look of this restored Camaro is clean and refreshing. And with a flashy combination of bright gold paint and spectacular chrome trim, it'll even turn your local Raccoons into rabid Chevy enthusiasts! At the front of the car a black, stainless-trimmed grille hangs a showroom fresh “Z/28” emblem between bright halogen headlights and a new chrome bumper. Below that bumper, clear parking lights are centered above a familiar Camaro D80 chin spoiler. And above that grille, a traditional ZL2 cowl induction hood anchors bright “302” scripts between a fresh “Camaro by Chevrolet” header emblem and satin-finished windshield wipers arms. Behind those wipers bright, dent-free stainless trim and pristine chrome drip rails combine with a correct black top and a chrome driver's mirror to frame new greenhouse glass. Below that hood, standard stainless rocker moldings and straight stainless wheel well trim combine with traditional chrome door handles, familiar fender louvers and correct “Camaro” and “Z/28 side scripts to add just the right amount of flash to the car's sculpted profile. And at the back of that profile, a correct D80 decklid spoiler rides above crystal clear tail lights, a centered “Z/28” emblem, a second pristine chrome bumper and bare stainless exhaust pipes.

Hoist this classic's solid steel hood and you'll be delighted to find a reproduction Winter cross ram intake on top of a 302 cubic inch high performance V8. At the top of the smooth mill a pair of correct Holley 4295 double pumper carburetors mix fuel from fresh stainless lines with oxygen from a chrome, diagonally mounted air cleaner. Behind those carburetors a familiar points distributor shoots electricity through fresh 7mm Hi-Temp Radio Suppression wires. At the sides of those carburetors camel hump heads hang polished and finned valve covers, Z/28-specific items cribbed from the Corvette parts bin, over professionally restored exhaust manifolds. And in front of those carburetors, a heavy duty radiator utilizes reproduction GM hoses and fresh tower clamps to send water around a correct alternator and a factory optioned power steering pump. Aesthetically, Chevy Orange is the order of the day when you're talking V8 engines in F1 Camaros. All the little details such as stamps, decals, factory smog equipment, a rebuilt Delco Moraine brake booster, and a reproduction Delco Energizer battery complete what is otherwise a show worthy package. And mechanically the ferocious 302 snarls and barks like a real competition piece, sounding especially good when its Holleys hit full tilt.

That high-winding small block is backed by a rugged Muncie 4-speed, which hangs behind an 11 inch clutch and correct bellhousing. That tough gearbox, which was recently rebuilt by the pros at our own RKM Performance Center, sends torque through a fresh driveshaft to a 12 bolt posi-traction rear end that spins big, 3.73 gears. Holding that legendary drivetrain off the ground is a fully rebuilt and accurately detailed suspension which sports 100% factory specifications. Included in that suspension is correct, factory optioned power steering and mandatory power front disc and rear drum brakes. At the sides of that suspension an authentic wrinkle-bent exhaust system sends charred dinosaurs through a transversely mounted muffler and correct bare tail pipes. And at the corners of that suspension, new Chevy Rally wheels spin vintage looking F70-15 Goodyear Polyglas tires around stainless trim rings and turbine center caps. As with its spotless engine bay the bottom of this rebuilt Camaro has been professionally detailed with all pertinent tags, chalk marks and paint daubs. And clean steel floors, which are covered in a smooth coat of satin black paint, serve as the perfect backdrop for items like a new stainless fuel tank, a full assortment of stainless hardware and factory accurate overspray.

The standard black interior hiding behind this car's small gold doors illustrates the true no frills intentions of Chevrolet's original Z/28. Its bucket seats were restored with new backs, new foam, optional headrests and correct reproduction covers which look and feel fantastic. In front of those seats a fresh black dash doesn't exhibit any signs of warping or cracking from its optional clock all the way to its radio delete. At the base of that dash, a great looking factory console houses a factory optioned four pack gauge cluster behind a chrome Hurst shifter that's complete with a chrome shift knob. That seat, dash and console trifecta is completely framed by a tight headliner, fade-free carpet and familiar standard door panels that are lined with bright stainless trim. In front of the driver a standard Camaro steering wheel features a broad horn button and a small blue bowtie. And behind the passengers the car's solid trunk has been correctly restored with fresh spatter paint, a new mat, a fresh tire and jack combo and new decklid decals.

The sale of this investment grade Camaro includes:

* An owner's manual
* A vintage accessory booklet
* Three vintage marketing brochures
* A vintage wiring diagram
* A vintage chassis service manual
* A vintage chassis overhaul manual
* A vintage Fisher Body service manual

This killer Z/28 is built the way many of us would have spec-d our own if were knew then what we know now. Disc brakes are almost mandatory for a car with this Camaro's performance envelope, and its fully sorted drivetrain makes for super complete classic that's sure to gain value. If you're looking for a extremely well done classic that's as complete as when it rolled off of the truck, this is your car!
