Description

Have you been paying attention to first generation Camaro sales? Great cars are being snatched up for strong money and big returns almost as fast as they hit our showroom! At RK Motors Charlotte, we retail more first class Chevys than anyone in the world. And in July alone we've sold FIVE first generation Camaros to five very satisfied owners. But here's the kicker: none of those classics we're quite as striking as this authentic, LeMans Blue Super Sport. And when you throw in the car's frame-off, paint shop-fresh restoration, its $74K asking price becomes a tremendous value! If you're a serious pony car enthusiast who's looking for a clean, correctly sorted showpiece, you're staring at your next car!

One glance at this Camaro's clean VIN and cowl tag suggests it's a real deal X22 Super Sport. Here's a detailed breakdown of exactly how the car rolled off GM's Norwood, Ohio assembly line:

VIN: 124379N591931

* 1 – Chevrolet Motor Division
* 2 – Camaro
* 4 – 8-cylinder engine
* 37 – Coupe
* 9 – 1969 model year
* N -- Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility
* 591931 -- Serial sequence number

TRIM TAG:

* 69 -- 1969 model year
* 12437 -- 1: Chevrolet, 2: Camaro, 4: Fixed digit, 37: Hardtop
* NOR -- Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility
* 249865 -- Fisher body number
* 711 – Standard, Black interior that's complete with bucket seats
* 71 – LeMans Blue paint
* 02A -- Assembled during the first week of February, 1969
* X22 – Camaro Super Sport that's equipped with a 396 cubic inch V8

Take a close look at this striking Super Sport's body and you'll feel like you've stepped right back in time. The car's correct GM code 71 LeMans Blue basecoat is flat and glossy, riding on bodywork that was carefully and sparingly performed. That body looks straight and clean from any angle with good, even gaps which suggest someone really took their time re-assembling its panels. And all this steel goodwill is topped by a pair of glossy black hockey stripes that foretell exactly the asphalt patterns the car's vicious big block aims to paint. Have you ever heard the phrase “a wolf in sheep's clothing”? Yeah, whoever immortalized those words must've owned a first generation Camaro!

The overall look of this restoration-fresh F1 is beyond factory perfect. And with its flashy combination of bright blue paint and spectacular chrome trim, it'll even turn your local Raccoons into rabid Chevy enthusiasts! At the front of the car, a trick Rally Sport grille hangs a bold “SS” emblem between bright halogen headlights, a showroom-fresh bumper, crystal clear parking lamps and a stylish D80 chin spoiler. Behind that grille, a Super Sport hood rides between a familiar “Camaro by Chevrolet” emblem and like-new glass that's reflected in a small mirror, traced with straight stainless trim and cleared by matte-finished wipers. At the sides of that hood, sculpted fenders hang familiar RS quarter louvers and a correct array of emblems between traditional door handles and dent-free rocker moldings. And behind those fenders, a satin black valence centers a fourth “SS” emblem between segmented taillights, an optional decklid spoiler, a second showroom-fresh bumper and Rally Sport reverse lamps.

If you wanted to factory-order 1969's top-of-the-line Camaro, you had one option: 396 cubic inches of big block Detroit iron! At the top of this coupe's 375 horsepower mill, a chrome, correctly decaled air cleaner funnels wind into a big 4-barrel carburetor that's threaded to a familiar Winters intake. At the sides of that intake, spotless chrome valve covers reflect fresh Packard TV R Suppression Wires above aluminum heads and fully restored exhaust manifolds. At the back of those valve covers, a reproduction points distributor rides between a rebuilt wiper motor, a new coil and a fresh Delco Moraine brake booster. And, opposite that distributor, a heavy duty radiator sends coolant around a shrouded fan via reproduction GM hoses and new tower clamps. Naturally, this coupe's impressive engine bay, comprised of smooth, satin black fenders, correct stamps and new, factory-accurate decals, is clean and 100% detailed. The Chevy Orange block mixes factory smog equipment with a typical array of stainless lines and textured ancillary pieces. And everything, from the car's modern power steering to its reproduction Delco battery, displays an overall excellent appearance.

Under this awesome Chevy you'll find a factory-fresh chassis and super solid floorpans that, like the car's straight exterior panels and storied L78 engine, have been restored to the absolute highest standards. The torque-rich big block spins a rugged Muncie 4-speed that's connected to a correct 12-bolt, posi-traction rear end and moderate 3.08 gears. Holding that legendary drivetrain off the ground is a fully rebuilt and accurately detailed suspension that sports 100% factory specifications. Included in that suspension is correct, factory-optioned power steering and mandatory power front disc and rear drum brakes. Inside those brakes, an aluminized, true-dual exhaust system sends charred dinosaurs through a transversely mounted muffler and correct, bare tail pipes. And at the corners of those pipes, LeMans Blue steelies spin vintage looking F70-15 Goodyear Polyglas tires around classy poverty caps. Naturally, the bottom of this fully rebuilt Camaro has been professionally detailed with all pertinent tags, chalk marks and paint daubs. And clean steel floors, which are covered in a smooth coat of satin black paint, serve as the perfect backdrop for a new stainless fuel tank and a full assortment of fresh stainless hardware.

The Standard, Black interior hiding behind this F1's small, lightweight doors illustrates the true, no frills intentions of Chevrolet's original pony car. Its bucket seats were restored with new backs, new foam, optional headrests and correct reproduction covers that look and feel fantastic. In front of those seats, a fresh black dash exhibits no signs of warping or cracking, from its handy pull all the way to its Delco AM radio. At the base of that dash, a straight console anchors factory-optioned accessory gauges in front of a chrome Hurst shifter. That seat, dash and console trifecta is completely framed by a tight headliner, fade-free carpet and familiar door panels that are lined in bright stainless trim. In front of the driver, a reproduction GM Rally Wheel spins satin-finished spokes around a red, white and blue horn button. And behind the passengers, a correctly restored trunk seals a new mat under a fresh tire and jack combo.

The sale of this bright blue panther includes a small stack of restoration photos and a reproduction owner's manual.

Who doesn't want a 1969 Camaro that's better-than-new in virtually every way? This incredible Super Sport retains authentic muscle car feel while adding a fresh, frame-off restoration to an already awesome ownership experience. If you're in the market for a highly correct classic that's fully detailed and ready to hit the road, welcome to the Chevrolet family!
