Description

Ford's F-series platform is, without question, the most decorated truck in America. It continues to dominate the market and has stood as the best-selling truck in America for over 32 years! Thanks in part to how popular the brand has always been, few vehicles carry as much significance as the Ford F-series brand. With that in mind, the classic truck market has never been hotter. Don't believe us? Take a look at recent auction results and see what custom classic trucks are bringing at auctions these days.

Followers of the custom classic truck scene will instantly recognize this extremely customized 1955 Ford F100. This custom '55 Ford F100 was the recipient of a 12 year extensive frame off custom build. What started with a rough '55 F100 that, according to the previous owner, had some “rust and rot” now sits as one of the nicest customized trucks we have ever seen come through our showroom. This decorated '55 Ford has plenty of awards in tow, features a massive power plant, and a stunning look.

As with most customs, this '55 Ford F100 body was painstakingly massaged over the 12 year restoration to achieve the dramatic look that it has today. At the front of the body you'll notice that a brand new stainless steel front bumper sits below a chrome grille that captures the signature look of the 1955 F100. Above the grille is the start of the blue flames that turn to purple as they stretch down the silver body. The roof has been chopped 4” in the front and 3.5” in the rear to provide a more modern look. At the doors you'll notice that the door handles have been shaved and have been upgraded with suicide hinges. In the bed of the truck you'll find Purple Heart wood, the massive custom rear tubs, and a memorial to the original builder's mother whose nickname was Weezie painted on the differential cover. At the back of the truck is another stainless steel bumper that finishes off the incredible look of the truck.

Tilt the hood forward on this custom and you will find a 460ci Ford Racing V-8 that pumps out 500 horsepower. At the top of the block, the engine has an EFI system by Imagine Injection that was built to have the look of an 8 Webber Carburetor. Controlling the EFI is a Haltech Fuel Management System. As far as the internals go, the builder opted to install a set of Keith Black 9.5:1 pistons, port and polished heads, and Crane aluminum roller rockers. The Ford power plant is extremely dressed up as it features chrome everything and is absolutely immaculate in the silver engine bay. The chrome valve covers feature a Ford Racing logo, and at the front of the engine you'll find a Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine system that adds functionality and a great look to the engine bay. In front of the engine you will find an aluminum radiator with 4 electric cooling fans and aluminum shrouds by Wizard Cooling.

Flip the truck over, and experienced street rod enthusiasts will notice how the builder boxed the frame's front three quarters and then installed a full Mustang II front end kit from Fat Man Fabrications. The builder also installed a sub frame for strength in the rear quarter. From there, an Air Ride Technologies Ride-Pro 4-way adjustable system with remote controls were installed to achieve whatever desired look you have for the truck. You will also notice that bolted to the massive Ford big block is a Lincoln C-6 4-speed automatic transmission with a TCI 2500 stall torque converter that sends power to a Ford 9” that has been equipped with a 3.50 rear differential and has been narrowed to make room for the huge 20” Boyd Coddington Crown Jewels that have 4 5/8” back spacing. Spent gasses travel out the headers and through an H-pipe system before traveling through Flowmaster mufflers and exit out in front of the rear tires to create the heavenly sound of a built V8. Wilwood 4 piston brakes, complete with drilled and polished calipers, are responsible for slowing the F100. Another set of 18” Crown Jewel rims can be found at the front, and all four have been wrapped in sticky Mickey Thompson rubber.

Open the suicide doors on this '55 and you'll reveal an incredible Ostrich Silver and Pearl British leather seats and interior panel that continue the flame theme. In front of the driver, is a Budnik 3-spoke steering wheel that rests on an Ididit steering column. Beyond the wheel are the Ford motorsports gauges that show the truck has only 5,743 miles since its extensive restoration. Between the seats is a custom center console, Kenwood stereo system with remote, and controls for the Vintage Air A/C system. Above the driver and passenger seats is a taught silver headliner that features the famous Ford V8 logo.

Builds as extensive as these usually lead to plenty of awards, and this customized F100 is no different. This '55 Ford F100 has picked up numerous awards, featured in four magazines, and even appeared on the TV show Cribs, Cars & Caves. The sale of the '55 Ford includes the mentioned four magazine spreads, numerous manuals from the build, and the extensive manual to the Haltech Fuel Management System.

The classic truck market has never been better, and custom trucks like this 1955 Ford F100 are a testament why. It doesn't get much better than an incredible custom look, upgraded internals, and an incredible power plant that twists out 500hp. This '55 custom is ready to add more awards to its already impressive collection, don't miss your chance to add this incredible ride to your collection.
