Description

Few cars from the 60s capture the rare blend of performance and attitude of early GTOs and that has made them extremely hot collector cars in today's market. At RK Motors Charlotte, we sell a lot of nice GTOs, but this 1967 hardtop is the car you've always dreamed of owning. Covered in a correct coat of Gulf Turquoise, it's a highly optioned, investment grade car that has seen very limited road time since its extensive frame-off restoration.

Before we get too far lets decode the VIN and take a look at the window sticker:

If you're a fan of style, speed, and comfort, you simply can't go wrong with Pontiac's storied GTO. The goat practically defined the golden age of Detroit and, by the time its first production run was over, it had become the best-selling muscle car of all time. This 1967 GTO is dressed in a correct K coded Gulf Turqouise paint and ready for the back roads. The beneficiary of an extensive frame-off restoration, the car presents well all around and backs its look up with a stout 400, Turbo-hydramatic 3-speed, and a unique Turquoise bucket seat interior. Backed by PHS documentation, this is a car you can trust too. If you're looking for a killer GTO to prowl the boulevard with, this '67 is a perfect option!

The iconic look of the GTO is beautifully preserved in this '67 version. It starts at the front of the body where the chrome front bumper and headlight casing has been painstakingly buffed to shine extremely bright today. Behind the front bumper a split grill contains the blinker lights and GTO badging. At the base of the hood the vintage Pontiac logo sits below a moderate hood scoop to give the front end a very aggressive look. Through the soft glass windows you can see how the turquoise vinyl interior accents the body very nicely. Down the sides of the body the gaps are excellent, and they should be, a close look at the receipts shows $1,100 was spent on just the door alignment alone. At the back you'll find the split quad brake lights that sit above another beautiful chrome bumper that hangs just above the dual exhausts.

Under the hood you'll find a correct YS Code 400 cubic inch V8. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and with 10.75:1 compression ratio, it cranks out 335 horsepower from the factory. The turquoise painted block wears a 9786133 casting number and has the YS stamp below the passenger side head. The engine compartment was well restored, and all the bits and pieces were either retained or replaced, ranging from hoses to the proper decals and markings throughout. At the top of the engine a 4-barrel carburetor rests a chrome air filter with the words 400 – 4 on top. Original cast iron exhaust manifolds dump into a true dual exhaust system that sounds authentic – not too loud, not to quiet.

Inspect the GTO under a lift and you'll find that the engine is backed by a Turbo-hydramatic 3-speed automatic coming off a fresh rebuild that includes the Pontiac “his and hers” shifter with dual gates. From there power travels down the driveshaft to a GM 10-bolt that wears the correct 9783393 casting number. Under here you'll be quick to notice that during the extensive restoration the drum brakes and steering system were all rebuilt, and a new gas tank hangs in the back. At the corners all new shock absorbers provide a very quality ride. In front of those shocks 14” Rally II rims have been wrapped in BF Goodrich redline rubber.

Open the doors and you'll be greeted by a sea of turquoise. The interior lives up to the standards set by the bodywork and engine bay, making this a well-rounded package. Front and center is firm bucket and bench seats which feature bright chrome trim. The engine's vitals are displayed by a rebuilt gauge cluster that sits within the woodgrain dash. A trio of Sunpro auxiliary gauges has been installed under the dash as well. On the floors, like-new carpet anchors the unique his and hers shifter. Fresh door panels feature new chrome handles and fresh stainless trim that parallels bright red GTO crests. In front of the driver, a three-spoke wood grain steering wheel contains a turquoise, Pontiac-branded horn button. And behind the passengers, a spotless trunk sandwiches a correct jack and a full-size spare tire between a new mat.

Included in the sale of this pristine '67 GTO is a recreation of the original window sticker and Pontiac Historical Services documents

Not many would argue that 1967 wasn't a great year for GTOs. They continue to be one of the best all-around values in muscle cars, not so expensive that you can't afford them, but not so cheap that people are cutting corners when they 're restoring them. They're always a fantastic ride, as they were new, and the best ones will hold their value while you drive and enjoy them. This particular one has a first rate cosmetic restoration on a solid, numbers-matching car, and all that's missing is a new owner to drive and show it. Summer is right around the corner, enjoy it cruising behind the wheel of one of the great ones from Pontiac.
