Frame Off Restored Bel Air Hardtop 350ci V8 5 Spd Manual Vintage A/C Leather
The Chevrolet Bel Air is one of the most recognized and beloved classics of all time. Its clean lines, tasteful trim and excellent proportions make for a handsome car with a TON of customizing potential. Not surprisingly, a wide array of these trademark Chevys populate car shows around the country, and their builds range from correct, concours quality restorations all the way to wild creations which exceed the performance of some of today's fiercest muscle. Somewhere between perfected trailer queens and temperamental custom machines, you'll find cars like this sweet '57 coupe. Decked in a smooth coat of traditional red 2-stage and sporting a stylish leather interior, this hot tri-five is an exceptional cruiser that's ready for years of show and go!
BODYWORK/TRIM
The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration, this picturesque Chevy utilizes high quality replacement parts to create a no excuses classic with timeless good looks. During its extensive freshening, every piece of the car's body was scrutinized and adjusted until it was as close to perfect as it could get. Once those panels were solid and properly fitted, a brilliant coat of traditional red base was buried in glossy clear. And the result is one striking Bel Air that displays better-than-factory fit under a spectacular, head-turning finish!
As a collector car enthusiast, you really can't go wrong with any '50s Chevy. But for many folks, the division's '57 model essentially perfected the art. At the front of this five-seven, a requisite gold grille hangs a bright Chevrolet crest and polished parking lamps between chrome-trimmed headlights and a broad bumper. At the top of that grille, a "Chevrolet" branded hood centers polished Spear Bullet Spoons in front of fresh glass that's draped in polished frames. At the base of those frames, polished wipers, factory mirrors and traditional door handles complement polished rockers, flashy spears and traditional Bel Air trim. And at the back of the car, a second broad bumper frames factory taillights and a "Chevrolet" branded trunk.
ENGINE
Check this hot Chevrolet's Satin Black engine bay and you'll find 350 cubic inches of small block V8 that mixes great sounds with clean aesthetics. At the top of that mill, a polished air cleaner funnels breeze through a reusable filter element to a coated Edelbrock Weber carburetor. Below that 4-pot, a lightweight Edelbrock intake anchors a chrome Pertronix coil in front of a billet Pertronix Flame-Thrower distributor. At the sides of that intake, polished valve covers, complete with a polished breather, reflect loomed Taylor plug wires, which snake around throaty block hugger headers. In front of those tubes, fresh V-belts lap billet pulleys, which spin a polished alternator, a polished AC compressor and a polished power steering pump. In front of those ancillaries, a billet-capped radiator shades an electric puller fan and a trusty Optima battery. And, in addition to being really nice to look at, the fully sorted engine is a reliable set up that's ready to hit the road.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Under the car, a straight chassis reflects clean Satin Black paint. The trusty 350 powers a slick Borg Warner 5-speed that shifts better than anything the factory offered back in 1957. That proven transmission spins a factory rear axle. That drivetrain rides a familiar double A-arm and coil spring suspension. Power-assisted stops are provided by upgraded front discs and factory rear drums. A welded, true-dual exhaust system flows through aftermarket mufflers. All lines and hardware appear restoration-fresh, free of significant weathering. And everything stays grounded thanks to a sweet set of Foose wheels, which spin 225/45R18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 255/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs.
INTERIOR
Between the doors, $14,500 worth of stylish leather, installed by Unique Upholstery of Scottsdale, Arizona, adds substance and appeal. An ornate dash, painted bright red to match the car's sublime exterior, frames modern air conditioning and old school Wonder Bar audio in spectacular door-to-door stainless. Below that dash, spotless red carpet floats Bel Air-themed floor mats around a predictable Hurst shifter. Fully restored seats feel firm to the touch, featuring polished stainless trim up front and a center-mount Bel Air speaker out back. And in front of the driver, a tilting column spins a reduced diameter steering wheel around a large Autogage tachometer.
