BODYWORK/TRIM

The F01 7 Series' appearance was a joint effort between Karim Habib and BMW Chief Designer Adrian van Hooydonk. The front remains pure BMW, with iconic kidney grilles flanked by BMW Dynamic Xenon headlamps. The front and rear fascias are revised with M Sport package enhancements. The side profile extends a straight line from the edge of those headlamps all the way back to LED taillights. And overall, this stately sedan represents a German-made flagship at its best with large sculpted metal flexing an aggressive road presence.

ENGINE

The 750i's motivation is provided by a stout 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 that twists 400 horsepower into 450 lb./ft. of torque. A modernized successor to the naturally aspirated N62 V8, the N63 actually reverses the traditional placement of intake and exhaust manifolds to optimize packaging and power for the aforementioned turbochargers. That kind of thrust is good enough to propel this relatively heavy sedan to impressive 5.2 second 0-60 sprints!

DRIVETRAIN

Behind the engine, a ZF Steptronic 6-speed monitors a variety of parameters in order to best adapt to the owner's preferred driving style. The car's chassis is equally sophisticated, featuring BMW's Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Traction Control. Dynamic Braking Control clamps down on large 4-wheel ventilated discs. And rolling stock consists of optional 20-inch M Sport alloys, which meet the road through 245/40R20 and 275/35R2 Goodyear Excellence tires.

INTERIOR

Pop the doors and this 7-series offers all the luxury you've come to expect from a premium European automaker. The Black leather interior is accented by large expanses of polished trim, which can be found on the dash, center console and door panels. The front features accommodations for two on heated bucket seats, while a large standard seat fills the rear. A well-dressed console anchors iDrive infotainment. From the driver's seat, an analog gauge cluster mixes plainspoken telemetry with attractive lighting. In front of those instruments, control is granted through an M Sport leather-wrapped steering wheel, which spins the classic BMW centerpiece around a power tilt/telescopic column. Above the driver, a large sunroof brings the outdoors inside. And behind the passengers, a cavernous trunk makes the car ideally suited for extended travel.
