Description

Looking for a super sharp street rod that you can parade down Main Street and park at local cruise nights? Looking for a cool piece of Americana that'll turn heads anywhere it goes? If you're in the market for a cool cruiser that's stylish, powerful and has lots of history, who says you have to buy a stuffy, high maintenance trailer queen? Just pick up the phone, call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and we'll hook you up with a great car like this awesome Ford roadster! Wrapping a spry 383 and trusty 700R4 4-speed in plush leather and quality fiberglass, this slick weekender draws big crowds and big compliments. And if you're one of the many enthusiasts looking for a fun classic that's unrelentingly cool, it's your ticket to car guy nirvana!

BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a professional, ground-up build that was completed by Fast Lane Speed and Rod Shop of Mission, Kansas, this low-slung drop-top is founded on quality Russ Nomore fiberglass that was purchased in November of 2015. That resin wears an appealing shade of GM Red Hot 2-stage that walks the fine line between classy Chevy cruisers and legendary Chevy muscle cars. And that pigment provides an excellent contrast to a bright white Sid Chavers BopTop. At the front of the car's glossy profile, a fiberglass grille shell centers polished slats behind polished headlights and a polished spreader that's finished with LED parking lamps. Behind that shell, a 3-piece hood fronts a smoked windshield, which hangs an elegant driver's mirror on a polished frame. At the sides of that hood, shaved doors lead the eye to sculpted quarters, which trace an electric decklid. And at the back of the car, a body-matched fuel tank floats a polished cap between a second polished spreader and traditional teardrop taillights.

ENGINE

Up front you'll find 383 cubic inches of Chevrolet small block that, ordered in 2015 from the pros at BluePrint Engines, makes a dyno-proven 430 horsepower! Revs are created when a tasteful March air cleaner feeds air in to a lightweight aluminum intake, by way of a coated Quick Fuel carburetor. At the perimeter of that intake, polished rocker covers prop a polished breather on hot aluminum heads that are finished with 2.02 intake valves, 1.60 exhaust valves and 1.6 to 1 roller rockers. Those heads feed a 4-bolt block, which spins a hydraulic roller cam between a cast crank, hypereutectic pistons, moly rings and heavy beam Chevy connecting rods. Those stroked internals feed stainless block hugger headers, which are threaded through loomed Moroso Super Tune wires that snake to a modern HEI distributor. At the front of those wires, traditional V-belts spin polished pulleys in front of a polished alternator, a polished AC compressor and an aluminum water pump. And at the front of those ancillaries, a beefy aluminum radiator plays well with a giant, electric puller fan. Despite being a thoroughly massaged piece, the Satin Black mill looks right at home in the car's spotless engine compartment. And details like a Lokar throttle linkage and a high-volume oil pump mix first-rate looks with first-rate functionality.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Naturally, that modern, road-ready powerplant precedes a modern, road-ready skeleton. Everything starts with a Russ Nomore Stage 3 chassis, which traces highly polished floors. At the center of those floors, a chrome-trimmed 700R4 4-speed twists a 9-inch, color-keyed axle that's fitted with a posi-traction differential. That road-ready pumpkin drives a polished and triangulated rear-clip that's finished with Aldan coil-over-shocks. Opposite that clip, a polished front-half frames a traditional I-beam axle in polished shocks. Stops occur when a chrome-trimmed booster kicks power-assisted calipers, which squeeze four vented rotors. Aluminized exhaust pipes send spent gases through throaty Thrush mufflers. And all that proven hardware rolls on polished Budnik Fontanas, which spin 225/45R17 Nitto NT05s in front of 285/40ZR18 Nitto NT555R Extreme Drags.

INTERIOR

Pop the doors and you'll find a custom leather interior that's warm and welcoming. A contoured bench anchors body-matched lap belts over German Weave carpet and textured floor mats. Those belts match a slender dash, which centers classy Dolphin gauges amid hardware for the car's modern air conditioning. At the bottom of that dash, a custom console floats JVC audio and a booted Lokar shifter between Memphis speakers, trick foot pedals and a polished e-brake. And in front of the driver, a Budnik Fontana steering wheel laps a polished, tilting column.
