Description

American trucks have built a well-deserved reputation for being tough, virtually unbreakable workhorses. Through solid engineering and fresh innovation, Chevrolet's vaunted C-Series was a dominant force in the world's largest automotive markets for close to 40 years. With that in mind, demand for classic trucks has never been hotter. And that means, after a lifetime of dedicated service, more and more of these gladiators are being massaged into buff hot rods and lust worthy show queens. One such stalwart is this sweet C10. The beneficiary of a comprehensive restoration, this awesome pickup wraps custom mechanicals and a professionally built stroker motor in custom upholstery and thoughtfully tweaked aesthetics. If you're in the market for a standout classic, settle in and take a close look at this sweet Chevy!

BODYWORK/TRIM

As far as styling goes, few vehicles have aged better than late '60s and early '70s Chevrolets. In fact, toeing the line between rock-solid and refined, the Action Line C/K is probably one of the most attractive trucks ever built. Making the best of that model's boxy proportions, this svelte stepside drapes dynamic House Of Kolor Sunset Pearl 2-stage over an array of carefully planned modifications. Those modifications were completed in late 2004 by Extreme Metal and Paint of Anacortes, Washington. That paint was highlighted in custom flames by Mike Lavallee of Killer Paint Airbrush Studio. And it all adds up to one head-turning half-ton that's one part lust and two parts envy!

If this Chevy is any indication, a 6-figure restoration nets some very impressive attributes. Everything begins at a stainless-trimmed grille, which centers a custom, color-keyed bowtie on bright halogen headlights, a mirrored bumper and factory parking lamps. Behind that grille, a shaved and louvered hood leads the eye to a 2-inch chopped greenhouse, which seats tinted, flush-mount glass behind a mesh cowl and polished wipers. At the sides of that hood, shaved fenders lead traditional door handles and billet mirrors, which reflect frenched antennas and simple bed steps that are notched around polished exhaust tips. Between those steps, a flush Center High Mount Stop Lamp shades an electric bed cover, which opens to reveal a handsome Oak floor. And at the back of that floor, a smooth tailgate caps a custom roll pan that's finished with flush taillights.

ENGINE

Hoist the hood and you'll find 383 cubic inches of trusty Chevrolet small block that was professionally assembled by Britco Automotive Machine of Centralia, Washington. Power originates when wind whips from a custom cowl, fabricated from a second '68 C10 hood, to a 650cfm Demon 4-barrel. That carb, sequenced behind AN lines, a trick Edelbrock filter and a coated pump, feeds a coated Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake. That intake floods lightweight aluminum heads, which hide a tough roller cam and requisite roller lifters under polished breathers and custom valve covers. Those covers anchor polished looms between a traditional points distributor, a hot MSD coil and color-keyed Taylor Spiro-Pro plug wires. Spent gases roar through compact block hugger headers. Charge comes courtesy of a polished alternator, which, thanks to polished brackets and polished pulleys, spins next to a polished Edelbrock water pump and a polished AC compressor. Speaking of polished, a polished Howe radiator mates a polished bowtie cap with a polished support, a polished expansion tank and dual electric pullers. And details like a polished master cylinder, trick dipsticks and a billet-cased Optima battery add a little extra flash to the truck's custom, body-matched engine bay.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Naturally, that clean, road-ready mill precedes a clean, road-ready chassis. Everything starts with a sturdy, factory-spec frame that's been C-notched to perfect the truck's stance. That stance is augmented with a Jim Meyer Racing 4-bar, which hangs a duo of QA-1 coil-overs opposite a factory front-clip that's finished with 2-inch drop spindles. Behind the proven small block, a proven 700R4 4-speed, sourced from TPI Performance Transmissions, spins a Lincoln axle that's stuffed with big, 3.73 gears. Factory-style power steering makes parking easy and turns a cinch. Stops are provided by power-assisted discs. The aforementioned headers feed 2.5-inch pipes, which are wired through throaty Flowmaster mufflers and polished stainless tips. Power meets the pavement through polished Colorado Custom wheels, which twist 255/45ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 285/40ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As. And well-planned details include a deep-sump oil pan, a finned transmission pan and a TA Performance inspection cover.

INTERIOR

Pop the doors and you'll find a completely custom interior that blends sultry Sunset Pearl with clean cloth trim. Front and center, a tastefully styled dash seats familiar Auto Meter telemetry beside a custom cupholder and proven Vintage Air climate control. Opposite that dash, a broad bench seat, sourced from this truck's 1989 offspring, shades a polished fire extinguisher. Beneath that seat, polished Chevy sills frame rich carpet, which floats color-keyed mats around billet foot pedals and a long Lokar shifter. At the edges of that carpet, tailored door panels found billet handles behind modern power windows. At the top of those windows, a sculpted headliner frames dual-mode Excedio audio behind a billet mirror and a quartz Auto Meter clock. And a half-wrapped Billet Specialties steering wheel laps a painted, tilting column.
