Documented Rotisserie Restored Mustang GT Fastback 390ci V8 4 Speed
When your goal is to own a world-class muscle car, there can't be any asterisks on the spec sheet. That's why the restorer of this striking Ford started his build with a documented Mustang GT. A performer from day one, this coveted pony is the beneficiary of a detailed, rotisserie restoration that transformed it from a solid survivor into a fully sorted show stopper. Today, the car rolls as a timeless, attention-grabbing classic that's ready to pound pavement and win awards!
Dressed in killer Highland Green pigment, this coupe's current condition is the product of a nut-and-bolt, rotisserie restoration that was completed in late 2013. The car's straight, largely original sheetmetal was stripped, sanded and bathed in high quality 2-stage. And that smooth finish was, after being buffed to a mirror-like shine, trimmed in bright new stainless.
Motivation is provided by a spry 390 that was professionally rebuilt by Pyramid Auto Parts and Machine of Saint Petersburg, Florida. That raucous mill is covered in traditional blue skin and centered between crisp, Gloss Black fenders. And everything, from the car's chrome valve covers to its Ford Blue oil pan, looks good and functions great.
Behind that pan, a tough Toploader 4-speed twists power through a 9-inch rear axle. That first class drivetrain hangs in a fully restored suspension, which benefits from power front disc and rear drum brakes. And at the corners of the car, chrome Mustang wheels spin Firestone Wide Oval tires around red-tinged GT center caps.
Open this coupe's doors and you'll find nostalgic Detroit styling that's wrapped in subdued Black vinyl. Restored bench and bucket seats sport freshly pleated covers that, judging by their appearance, enjoyed very little road time. The vintage aura continues onto the dashboard, which offers a pleasant layout of analog gauges. And in front of the driver, a chrome-trimmed steering wheel spins a glossy black rim around a classy pony insignia.
It's hard to imagine the automotive world without Ford's Mustang. For over 50 years, America's original pony car has been admired by racers and purists alike. With its strong drivetrain, capable chassis and nearly universal appeal, this razor-sharp coupe is an excellent mix of old school fun and show-stopping looks. We'd like to thank the car's happy new owner for choosing RK Motors Charlotte for all his octane-fueled needs. Here's to many trophies, many years and many more miles behind the wheel of classic American muscle!
