Rotisserie Restored Camaro SS Restomod 480hp 427ci V8 4-speed AC 4 wheel disc
The 1969 Camaro is the indisputable king of Chevrolet muscle cars. In fact, some enthusiasts would even argue that the 1969 Camaro is the indisputable king of all Chevrolet cars. But sometimes familiarity breeds contempt, and people start to tire of seeing essentially the same classic in the front row of every show. It's nothing personal, we all love 1969 Camaros, and they're pretty much guaranteed to maintain their desirability. But what about folks who want something a little different; something that makes spectators stop and do a double take? Well, that's why the market is beginning to elevate Chevy F-Bodies that are familiar, but different. Over the past decade, unique, non-traditional first-generation Camaros have begun developing their own following of dedicated enthusiasts. And once you've spent time around a cool cruiser like this 1969 resto-mod, you'll likely join the cult!
RALLYE GREEN RALLY SPORT
Fully sorted and ready for years of endless cruising, this silky, real-deal Super Sport is the beneficiary of a thorough rotisserie restoration. Once the coupe's body was massaged to better-than-new condition, a brilliant coat of correct Rallye Green 2-stage was accented with white Super Sport fender stripes. And today, the car rolls as one very well done classic that's ready to be the center of attention both on the road and at the show.
This Chevy's timeless Rally Sport aesthetics kick off with a body-matched bumper, which traces a bright “SS” emblem and quality Detroit Speed headlights opposite a D80 chin spoiler and clear parking lamps. Behind that bumper, a shaved header leads a familiar ZL2 Cowl Induction Hood, which is founded on a stainless-trimmed greenhouse that's complemented with polished mirrors. Those mirrors reflect a “427” branded profile, which hangs factory door handles between correct quarter louvers and stainless wheel frames. And at the back of the car, a second D80 spoiler shades a Satin Black valance, which centers a colorful “SS427” badge and crisp taillights above polished exhaust and Rally Sport reverse lamps.
ZZ427
Peer in to the car's painted and polished engine bay and you'll find a 427 cubic inch GM Performance Parts ZZ427 crate motor that twists stout 10.1 to 1 compression into 480 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of pavement-busting torque. Oxygen and dinosaurs enter the combustion chambers through a “TURBO-JET” branded air cleaner, stainless fluid lines and a coated Holley carburetor. Below that carb, an aluminum intake feeds 110cc, oval-port aluminum heads, which wear attractive Proform valve covers and classy Chevrolet push-ins. Below those covers, aluminum roller rockers feed forged aluminum pistons, forged steel rods, a forged steel crank and a hydraulic roller cam. At the back of that cam, a familiar HEI distributor shoots spark through eight GM Performance Parts plug wires. Below those wires, Hooker Competition headers maintain performance while creating deep, lust worthy acoustics. At the front of those tubes, a beefy aluminum radiator flows coolant past two electric puller fans thanks to GM-branded hoses and a proven Edelbrock water pump. In front of that pump, a March serpentine drive spins a polished alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. And top notch detailing includes a polished brake booster, muted fender braces, a deep-sump oil pan and a quality Optima battery.
MEAN, CLEAN AND GREEN
Park this Chevy on a lift and you'll find solid, Rallye Green floorpans that provide a fitting backdrop for fresh, first rate hardware. Behind the buff big block, a tough Hurst shifter linkage kicks a storied Muncie 'Rock Crusher'. That 4-speed twists power to a 12-bolt rear end, which spins a posi-traction differential around stout, 3.73 gears. Beneath that drivetrain, a completely rebuilt suspension cages Hotchkis coil springs and welded Detroit Speed subframe connectors between colorful Bilsteins and a thick Hotchkis sway bar. That suspension is led by traditional power steering. Stops are provided by four power-assisted calipers, which squeeze four drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers in to a 2.5-inch Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system, which positions chambered 80 Series mufflers behind an H-shaped crossover. And torque transitions to pavement through chromed American Racing Torq Thrust IIs, which spin 235/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 255/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs.
HOUNDSTOOTH HEAVEN
Inside this cool coupe you'll find a correct Ivory Houndstooth interior that has to be one of the most stylish cockpits ever created! TMI-upholstered front bucket and rear bench seats, which feature Deluxe headrests, frame a factory console that's fitted with a chrome Hurst shifter and 4-pack accessory gauges. A pliable, crack-free dash, which flows in to Standard door panels, frames Deluxe telemetry that includes a 140MPH speedometer, a 6,000RPM tachometer and a small clock. In front of the driver, a wood-rimmed steering wheel laps a tilting column. And Vintage Air climate control and Custom Autosound audio make excellent use of American Autowire wiring.
When it comes to muscle cars, it's hard to go wrong with ANY classic that's named Camaro. But how many chances do you get to purchase a Camaro that's well built, wisely modded AND genuinely unique?
