Description

What do you get when you combine the smooth aesthetics of a show-worthy street rod with the spry spirit of an old school muscle car? This incredible Ford custom! With the universal appeal of high dollar eye candy, and the road going prowess of a fully sorted cruiser, this slick coupe is a unique, well-built classic that provides its owner the best of both worlds. And what's better: you can have your showstopper and drive it too for a fraction of the money and time it takes to complete a ground-up build!

GO GREEN

A head-turning street rod that's dashed with a fair amount of muscle car swagger, this all-steel Ford features a detailed, custom appearance that's highlighted by a spectacular coat of reposeful Spies Hecker two-stage. That pigment wraps a solid 1940 profile that, during a detailed rotisserie restoration, was stripped bare and lovingly massaged to form. And today, this classic rolls as one lights-out head turner that's virtually guaranteed to make you weak in the knees!

There really isn't much you can do to make an early '40s Ford more attractive. The car's streamlined styling was a homerun when originally introduced and, today, it's a stunning example of some of the strongest elements of the highly regarded Art Deco movement. At the front of this cherry custom, broad fenders center a polished Standard Grille between stainless-trimmed headlights and an elegant, Ford-branded hood. That hood points classy stainless trim in front of opposing doors, which swing polished mirrors over padded, all-steel running boards. Opposite those boards, an unchopped greenhouse hangs tinted glass between electric wipers and an ornate, Ford-branded trunk. And beneath that hatch, a second chrome bumper splits the difference between polished exhaust pipes and traditional taillights.

POWER FOR THE AGES

Pop the hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of proven Chevy small block that looks good and runs great! A billet air cleaner funnels wind through a coated Edelbrock carburetor, which revs thanks to a quality Lokar linkage. That carb feeds a chromed Edelbrock Performer EPS intake, which looks great between billet breathers and billet valve covers. The fires get lit by a reliable billet distributor, which sequences spark between a polished Flame-Thrower coil and loomed Taylor plug wires. Spent gases fall through stainless block hugger headers. At the front of those tubes, billet pulleys spin an aluminum water pump between a polished alternator and a polished AC compressor. At the front of those ancillaries, a polished aluminum radiator centers a large electric puller fan between a polished cap and corrugated hoses. And the glossy gray mill looks great amid choice details like trick dipsticks, a cream firewall and polished hood supports.

SEAMLESS UPGRADES

Take a long look under this classic and you'll find a roster of significant modifications that add up to impressive dynamics and big performance gains. The buff 350 utilizes a cooled TH200-4R 4-speed to twist a tough Ford 9-inch that's built with big, 3.70 gears. That axle pushes a sturdy Ford frame that was fully stripped and rotisserie restored during the car's detailed rejuvenation. A Mustang II-style front-clip leads traditional leaf springs that are coupled with small lowering blocks. Tubular control arms cage manual rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are quick and precise thanks to power-assisted discs. Plenty of cruising comes courtesy of a Bob Drake fuel tank. Spent gases are managed by aluminized pipes, which thread Xlerator Turbo Mufflers. And power pounds the pavement through painted steel wheels, which spin staggered BF Goodrich whitewalls around stylish Art Deco stainless.

CLEAN AND CUSTOM

There's no shortage of street rods with custom interiors, but a classic this cool always stands out! Installed by Twin City Upholstery of Bloomington, Illinois, the car's custom cockpit kicks off with a split-bench seat that's covered in a sea of plush leather. In front of that throne, a classy, two-tone dash hides modern, 12-volt wiring behind crisp Dakota Digital telemetry and controls for Vintage Air conditioning. A polished mirror reflects a dynamic headliner, which shades sculpted side panels that are dotted with billet handles. Clean carpet frames polished, floor-mount foot pedals. And the driver spins a timeless, “V8” branded steering wheel around a tilting Flaming River column.

This striking Ford is a nicely finished classic that was built to be driven AND seen. It uses top-notch components from some of the best names in the business to create a unique custom that mixes killer personality with awesome curb appeal. Looking for a road ready hot rod that's guaranteed to draw a crowd wherever you go? Your search is officially over!
