Restored Camaro Resto Mod Convertible 396 V8 Tremec 5-speed PS Discs A/C
Start talking muscle cars and the first-generation Camaro is almost always directly referenced. Offered in trim levels ranging from stripped economy champ to ferocious pavement prowler, Chevrolet produced F1s that were capable of satisfying nearly every buyer and every wallet. That legacy of universal appeal has continued throughout the last 50 years, giving fans and aficionados the parts and inspiration to create their own unique hot rods. Take this alluring resto-mod for example. Backing 396 cubic inches of pumped and polished big block with a tough Tremec 5-speed and modern athletics, this tastefully modified Chevy turns a traditionally appealing platform into a head-turning super star. Ready to hit the streets in a choice muscle car? Check out this sweet panther!
THE FIRST AND FOREMOST
The beneficiary of a professional, ground-up restoration that was completed by the pros at Ontario, Canada's Boothill Auto, this slick Camaro is the product of A LOT of time spent sweating details. A series of solid body panels, stripped all the way to bare during the build, displays great fit and excellent finish. Silky two-stage, a brilliant take on 1967 Nantucket Blue, seals dynamic flake in a glossy, wet-look shine. And the result is one very well done pavement scorcher that'll drop jaws at whatever event it rocks!
At the front of the car's magnetic pigment, a 1967-exclusive grille hangs a bright “SS” badge between modern headlights, traditional parking lamps and a plated bumper. At the top of that grille, a Chevrolet-branded header leads the eye to a mild Cowl Induction Hood, which looks great in front of satin wipers and bright window frames. Ornate fender emblems lead bright door handles and factory mirrors, which reflect a crisp white top. And at the back of the car, a second plated bumper traces a short spoiler, billet tail lamps and a familiar Super Sport fuel cap.
BIGGER IS ALWAYS BETTER
When you're looking to make a statement with a hopped up muscle car, installing one of GM's many fantastic big blocks is always a great start. Impressive in both sight and sound, this Chevy's date-correct 396 kicks off with a sweet Billet Specialties air cleaner that's paired with reliable FiTech fuel injection. That octane surfs a clean Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, which floods iron Chevy heads that hoist muted Billet Specialties breathers on trick Billet Specialties valve covers. Spark is provided by a hot MSD Pro-Billet distributor, which sequences fire between an MSD Blaster 2 coil and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Spent gases roll through coated Hedman Hedders. At the front of those tubes, a flashy Billet Specialties V-Trac system spins a reliable Edelbrock water pump between a polished alternator, a polished AC compressor and polished power steering components. That pump feeds a massive aluminum radiator that's outfitted with a tasteful closeout and spry puller fans. And the Chevy Orange mill looks great inside a traditional, Satin Black frame.
PURE AND PROVEN
Pose this panther on a lift and you'll find solid, Satin Black floors that provide a stellar backdrop for a roster of proven components. A tough Tremec 5-speed twists power through a thick Dynotech driveshaft to a dressed 10-bolt axle. That axle pushes a traditional leaf spring rear-clip that's finished with fresh KYB shocks. Modern power steering turns a factory-style front-half that's been upgraded with Detroit Speed springs, tubular control arms and an upsized sway bar. Hydroboosted stops are the product of two Baer calipers, two GM calipers and a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float into large stainless pipes, which hang an X-shaped crossover in front of polished MagnaFlow mufflers. And torque transitions to pavement through polished bonspeed wheels, which wear 245/40R18 Nitto Invos in front of 275/35ZR18 Nitto Invos.
CUSTOMIZATION IS STANDARD
Born with a Standard Interior, bucket seats and a factory console, this Camaro remains largely as it always was – except with a few custom factory twists! The car's handsome cockpit kicks off with Standard seats that, dressed in unlikely Parchment vinyl, frame a predictable, stainless trimmed console. At the front of those thrones, a tastefully modified dash hangs cool Vintage Air conditioning next to flashy Classic Instruments Velocity telemetry and remote-controlled Clarion audio. Satin Black door toppers cap Standard Parchment door panels, which cage fade-free carpet. The driver turns an attractive Super Sport Steering Wheel around an angled Hurst shifter. And modern technology includes a trick rearview mirror that incorporates a convenient rearview camera.
Combining great performance with crisp aesthetics and timeless Motor City swagger, this impressive drop-top really puts the “class” in classic. And best of all, being a first-generation Camaro, it'll always be one of the most in-demand collector cars on the market. On the hunt for some no excuses metal that'll draw a crowd wherever it goes? This Chevy is your kind of fun!
