Rotisserie Restored GTO Convertible 389 Tri-Power 4-Speed PHS Documented
Rotisserie Restored GTO Convertible 389 Tri-Power 4-Speed PHS Documented ///
This incredible hard to find GTO convertible has been in the same family since new and was treated to a restoration in 2008 by Klassic Rides in Denver, NC. The Nocturne Blue exterior over the Parchment interior and top makes this GTO a real stunner when parked on the show field or cruising done the road!
The first generation of the GTO is credited with popularizing the muscle car market segment in the 1960s. The Pontiac GTO is considered by some to have started the trend with all four domestic automakers offering a variety of competing models.
The first Pontiac GTO began production on September 3, 1963, and was available as an option package for the Pontiac LeMans. Pontiac offered the car in coupe, hardtop, and convertible body styles. The GTO package included a 389 ci V8 rated at 325 hp at 4,800 rpm. The GTO option package came with dual exhaust, chromed valve covers and air cleaner, seven-blade clutch fan, a floor-shifted manual transmission with a Hurst shifter, stiffer springs, larger diameter front sway bar, wider wheels, hood scoops, and GTO badges.
The GTO we have here is equipped with the optional and more powerful engine with "Tri-Power" carburetors (three two-barrel Rochester 2G carburetors) rated at 348 hp.
Since the restoration was completed, this GTO served time at local car shows and cruise events going a total of 100 easy carefree miles.
PHS documentation is included along with restoration photos, receipts, sales brochure, owner's manual, shop manual and original paperwork from 1965 sale.
