Description

Hot rodding is a timeless tradition which has created many timeless cars. And the great thing about the evolution of hot rodding technology over the past 30 years is that a vast array of great products continues to stream onto the market. Presently, anyone with a check book and an affliction for going way too fast and looking way too good can build anything from state-of-the-art avant-garde to old school cool. This wicked 1932 Ford Hi-Boy, with its proven suspension, advanced high output V8 and outrageous color combination is a perfect example of a ground-up build that combines the core strengths of original hot rodding with a modern vision and top notch components. Hi-boys are great cars and, not surprisingly, we sell them almost as fast as soon as they hit the showroom. So, if you're looking to score a sweet hot rod that mixes classic good looks with modern road manners, call us today!

Downs Industries is a family owned company that has spent the last 30 years supplying the classic car hobby with some of the best fiberglass components ever produced. With virtually no imperfections, this slick '32 Ford's Downs fiberglass fuselage is a testament to exactly why they've enjoyed such great success. It displays smooth vertical panels that could give an all-steel car a serious run for its money, and presents an arrow straight profile which looks absolutely fantastic under a rich coat of House of Kolor Cobalt Blue paint. Naturally, a body this nice deserves to be seen and celebrated to the highest extent, so the Cobalt Blue basecoat was topped with intense Candy flames, detailed with bright green pinstripes, color sanded, and sealed in a thick and glossy clearcoat shell. Today, with only 1,826 sunny day miles on its complete build, this awesome Hi-Boy roadster combines classic hot rod style with a vivid flair that puts a fresh twist on a proven trophy winning formula.

Everything on this '32 Ford is exceptionally well-done, and it has just the right amount of detail to create a lasting impression. At the front of the car, body-matched frame horns hold a polished spreader bar below a stainless grille and two great looking Ford Model A Twolite headlights. Behind that grille, a stainless topped four-piece steel hood runs to a chopped windshield which is bordered by a show quality chrome frame and small chrome rearview mirrors. At the top of that windshield, a removable Time Machines Unlimited cloth top hangs a small aluminum trimmed glass window above a Cool Cap fuel filler and a pinstriped, electrically operated trunk lid. The profile of the car presents a clean and simple look that is typical of classic fenderless hot rods. The door handles have been shaved, the door hinges are hidden, the flames are uninterrupted, and you can see just enough of the cars mirror-like chrome suspension to be captivated and drawn in. At the back of the car, a familiar billet aluminum tag bracket hangs between traditional round street rod tail lights, and a pair of high quality Megs stainless exhaust tips complement a body matched differential and chrome rear coil overs.

Under the cars solid steel hood, ample power is supplied by a GM Performance Parts Fast Burn 385 V8. Sold as a complete package, this 350 cubic inch, 385 horsepower small block utilizes a forged steel crank, powdered metal connecting rods, flat top hypereutectic pistons, a hydraulic cam, stamped steel self-aligning rocker arms and GMs revolutionary Fast Burn aluminum cylinder heads to create a 9.6 to 1 compression ratio and 385 lb./ft. of torque. At the top of the engine, an aftermarket wing nut cinches a trick stainless air cleaner down on a 4-barrel Edelbrock Performer 650 carburetor which is completely detailed with polished stainless fuel lines, braided hoses and a polished Edelbrock inline fuel filter. Under the carburetor, a polished GM Performance Parts intake manifold sits between finned aluminum valve covers that have been detailed with the same bright red paint that's on the engine block, and polished breathers. At the back of the engine, an HEI distributor sends sparks through red Taylor performance plug wires which snake around ceramic coated shorty headers; and at the front of the engine, a fresh V-belt spins a chrome alternator and a polished water pump that are sandwiched between billet pulleys and billet brackets. As with its fully detailed exterior panels, nothing was missed under the hood of this sharp '32 Ford; and its smooth and clean black engine compartment is finished with ancillary items such as a heavy duty radiator which is complete with an electric fan and chrome flex hoses, stainless brace bars, polished motor mounts, and even small pieces of hood insulation to shield its Candy flame paint from heat generated by the headers.

Underneath this impressive roadster, a chrome front I-beam suspension, which features a five inch drop, combines with a chrome ladder bar rear suspension, which features polished and satin finished coil over shocks, to produce thoroughly modern ride and handling characteristics. At the center of that custom suspension, a brand new Phoenix Transmission Turbo-Hydramatic 700R4 4-speed automatic, which is equipped with a Phoenix Transmission 2,600 RPM stall converter, sends power to a Currie nine inch Posi-traction rear end which carries stout 3.50 gears. Quick stops are provided by a frame mounted power brake booster which sends fluid through stainless steel lines and braided hoses to front 'fake brake' discs and traditional rear drums. A killer soundtrack is provided by the cars ceramic coated true dual exhaust system which looks to be about three inches in diameter and runs from coated shorty headers to polished Magnaflow mufflers and stainless Megs tips. Exceptionally clean and completely detailed for show, the bottom of this Ford includes details such as a gloss black, Oak reinforced floor pan, a complete set of stainless lines and hardware, rugged finned fluid pans, a body matched driveshaft and rear end, and even a trick, polished horn. At the corners of the car, 15 and 17 inch polished aluminum American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels spin 195/60 front and 275/60 rear Goodyear Eagle GT IIs around special order American Racing center caps.

Inside this awesome '32 Ford you'll find a spectacular looking red leather interior that provides a fun and stylish contrast to the cars deep blue exterior panels. The pleated leather bench seat is firm, provides good support and features sturdy two-point racing harnesses. At the sides of that seat, custom pleated door panels, which are equipped with billet aluminum handles, hang next to custom covered kick panels which include two red Kenwood speakers. Below the seat, like-new red carpet flows from the firewall to the back of the cockpit and props color-matched mats next to a chrome emergency brake handle and a chrome shifter with a blue swirl Lucite shift knob. At the front of the car, a smoothed and body-matched dash hangs a full set of Classic Instruments gauges below more stylish pin striping. And at the back of the car, a completely upholstered trunk hides an MP3 compatible, remote controlled AM/FM CD player behind more pleated red panels. Connecting the driver to the road is a polished and color coordinated banjo style steering wheel which rides on a body-matched tilt steering column above stylish billet stalks and mirror-like chrome foot pedals.

Naturally, this cool custom '32 Ford Hi-boy comes with a stack of build receipts and component manuals.

In short, this spectacular '32 Hi-Boy features the best of everything, and is the perfect street rod for someone who wants a fully sorted show stopper. It features an unbeatable combination of classic good looks and modern hot rod technology wrapped in professional build that simply cannot be duplicated for anywhere near our asking price.
