Despite being five years old, this 2007 Audi S8 looks like it was purchased just a few months ago and feels like a brand new car in every way. Audi's dedication to high quality and high style is evident on every square inch of the car's body, and its super glossy coat of Quartz Gray Metallic provides a modern, tailored appearance which just oozes top tier luxury. The car's finish is the same stuff that covers the brand's $150,000 R8 super car, and as a result, it's deep, rich, and virtually blemish-free. Its doors open and close like a proverbial bank vault. And its sporty shape does an excellent job of translating its relatively large proportions into a buckled down, agile mid-size performance car appearance. In 2005, Audi began re-engineering its entire portfolio to comply with pending European pedestrian safety standards. Behind the engine, a ZF 6HP Tiptronic Dynamic Shift 6-speed automatic transmission is connected to a Torsen dynamic center differential which transfers power to front and rear hypoid axles to form the basis for Audi's familiar Quattro all-wheel drive system. And that all-wheel drive system is aided at the starting line by a 3.31 final drive ratio; in the turns by Servotronic variable assist power steering; and in traffic by four wheel disc brakes which utilizes dual piston front and single piston rear calipers to clamp giant, radially ventilated rotors. Naturally, this S8 comes with a full array of software which makes even the novice driver feel like a pro. The brakes are aided by a standard anti-lock system, electronic brake assist and electronic brake distribution.
