Description

One of the coolest things about the classic car hobby is the amount of passion and creativity enthusiasts put into builds that can sometimes span decades. And since all of us here at RK Motors Charlotte are gearheads in one form or another, we know the kind of dedication a high dollar project takes. That said; it seems every time we think we've seen it all, another completely amazing car comes through the doors and just knocks our socks off! This 1966 Chevrolet Nova is a professionally assembled stunner which wraps a fresh 350 cubic inch V8 and some of the best performance hardware on the market in a custom massaged interior and one of the most impressive bodies to ever come out of a GM design studio. And best of all, you can drive and enjoy this slick pro-tourer RIGHT NOW for less than half its $200K build cost!

You know, two out of the last three Nova's we've sold belonged to body shop owners; and judging by the arrow straight panels on this car, I wouldn't be surprised if it were also near and dear to an experienced metal workers heart. Of course, it should come as no surprise that these slick little classics draw the admiration of experts in our hobby. When you get their paint and panel combination just right, they're guaranteed to be the best looking hot rod in town! And this super cool, super slick '66 Nova pro-tourer is a 'take no prisoners' build that was completed to the absolute highest standards. Exceptionally solid and ready to hit the show circuit, its broad shouldered body was aligned to better-than-factory standards, block sanded into a Kansas-flat surface and covered in a striking coat of PPG Candy Tangerine paint. The result is one fantastic looking muscle car which features a level of fit and finish that is more akin to a concept car than a 45 year old classic, and has the kind of unique style and daydream inducing eyeball appeal that will drop jaws anywhere you go.

The handsome, sharp-edged lines of the Nova II are typical 60s conservative. And because they're so appealing to look at and so specific in nature, they've continued to gain significant popularity as car design has become more and more homogenized. At the front of the car, a show quality chrome bumper hangs blacked out parking lights below two modern headlights and a Super Sport exclusive black anodized grille. At the top of the car, pristine stainless trim and fresh chrome drip rails frame 100% new, factory tinted glass behind a spotless pair of bright stainless windshield wipers. At the sides of the car, clean modernist panels are complemented by traditional chrome door handles, wide Super Sport exclusive rocker trim, a full assortment of emblems and a sweet pair of chrome bowtie mirrors. And at the back of the car, vertical, chrome trimmed tail lights illuminate a second body-width chrome bumper below a pristine, Super Sport exclusive bright aluminum decklid cove.

Hoist the mirror-like hood and you'll find a 350 cubic inch small block V8 that, by the looks of things, has endured less than 100 miles of road time since it was bolted between the car's custom fabricated and body-matched inner fenders. Featuring a mild Comp cam, this vintage Chevy block was installed by the previous owner to create a well-rounded classic that isn't too radical or too moody. The result is a tight running pro-tourer which has both the killer power you'd expect from a top notch muscle car AND the excellent street manners commonly found in a fully-sorted cruiser. At the top of that smooth engine, a chrome air cleaner swirls oxygen into a chrome Holley 4-barrel carburetor which is bolted between polished stainless fuel lines and a high performance, Candy Tangerine intake. At the sides of that intake, pristine painted valve covers hang billet breathers over chrome loomed Taylor plug wires and ceramic coated Hooker headers. And at the back of that intake, a high performance MSD billet distributor sends fire from a new Painless wiring harness to a freshly painted Candy Tangerine distributor cap. At the front of the engine a new serpentine system, which is complete with a full set of chrome pulleys, spins a chrome alternator and a chrome AC compressor at the ends of sturdy and attractive polished brackets. And at the front of the car, a Candy Tangerine radiator circulates water between body-matched water tubes, a trick billet thermostat housing and two color-keyed puller fans. Aesthetically, this Nova's first class engine bay is completely spotless, and any component that isn't painted is either chrome, polished aluminum or polished stainless. Essentials like custom inner fenders, a smoothed firewall, a smoothed radiator support and a fully finished hood are well-planned and professionally executed. And details like a billet master cylinder, a chrome overflow tank, a polished radiator cap and a full set of premium stainless hardware contrast exceptionally well to what seems like miles of glossy orange hue.

One of the best parts of owning a pro-tourer is putting it up on a lift; and naturally, this Nova does not disappoint! I say 'naturally' because, after studying the body and spending ample time taking in the engine bay, you should know by now that this car is the real deal! Behind the hot 350, you'll find a tough 700R4 automatic transmission which sends power to a fully rebuilt 10 bolt Posi-traction rear end and tall 4.11 gears. At the front of the car, a Heidts sub-frame slides a modern rack and pinion steering system between tubular control arms and shiny Candy Tangerine paint. At the center of the car ceramic coated, mandrel bent pipes send burnt dinosaurs into ceramic coated, dual chamber turbo mufflers. At the back of the car, a factory four link suspension keeps the big tires grounded and the tall gears suspended. And at the corners of the car, an Air Ride Technologies Shockwave lowering system combines an excellent ride with a killer stance. Stops are provided by Wilwood four wheel disc brakes which utilize polished calipers to squeeze massive drilled and slotted rotors. The cars floors and chassis are extremely clean and display a nice coat of satin black paint which serves as both an aesthetic attribute and a protective coating. And all the car's awesome hardware rides on a great looking set of polished Billet Specialties wheels which spin 225/40 ZR18 front and 245/35ZR20 rear Nitto NT555 Extreme radials.

Take a look inside this laser straight Nova and you'll find a custom tailored environment that, despite its chamois surfaces and authentic Ostrich inserts, still retains all the integrity of GM's impeccable original design. The fluffy tan seats, which wrap Ostrich accents around custom stainless buttons, show no wear at all and feel every bit as soft as they look. In front of those seats a familiar square dash, which is completely wrapped in tan Ultraleather, hangs a full assortment of Haneline white faced gauges between custom defroster grilles and spotless stainless foot pedals. Below those seats new California carpet, which is protected by custom Ultraleather floor mats and custom Ultraleather door sills, frames a contoured center console that's complete with a slick Lokar shifter and an ergonomically placed controller for the car's Air Ride Technologies suspension system. And above those seats, a tight Ultraleather headliner centers a custom trimmed dome light between completely wrapped side pillars and color-keyed window frames. In front of the driver, a tan tilt steering column spins a polished, half-wrap steering wheel around a full set of billet stalks. At the sides of the driver, custom door panels ride behind great looking billet hardware and fresh stainless trim. And behind the driver, a custom package tray hangs over a fully detailed trunk that's inhabited by more Ultraleather panels, more Ostrich inserts and more pristine stainless trim.

This sweet '66 Nova pro-tourer takes 'clean' to a whole new level and is certain to be the star of the show anywhere you go! It's a spectacular build which features custom comfort and a modern drivetrain that's ready to hit the road for Friday night cruises, Saturday morning poker runs or Sunday afternoon shows. If you're looking for a car that has serious performance to back up its killer good looks, this Chevy II belongs in your driveway!
